Dead battery

I am thinking of buying a kalkhoff bike but the battery hasn't been charged in 18 months is it dead or gone to sleep and could it be woken up again

Kalkhoff batteries go into sleep mode when not in use that works pretty well generally. Might well be ok. Plug it into the charger base station and it should charge. If there is a problem, the base station will show some flashing lights to indicate a problem.

I haven't seen it yet due to social distancing I will ask them to plug it into the base station and get back with the results

If it uses the impulse drive/darby motor simply don't buy it as they are one of the worst motors ever put in to an ebike, their reliability is among the worst kept secrets by a manufacturer in the ebike world.
