Display Water Ingress permanent?

Display lcd characters disappeared for a while after bike parked in rain a few times. Water seems to get in somewhere, maybe between buttons & surround where light shows or seam around the fascia. Still works, just press on, press again for light on, press + button n times for level and go. Wondering if display will dry out or not? Will Clingfilm help?
Are any displays really waterproof?

Leave it in an airing cupboard for a few days to dry it out then try sealing it with by rubbing silicone grease all around.

Well worth covering in future with cling film or a placcy bag.

As I'm still using d bike in d rain, I'm rocking the plastic bag with rubber band look. Couldn't get it in d airing cupboard!
