Help Required! Blown Fuse >.<

Hey there, I have a 48v 1000w hubby, powered by a 48v 10.4 ah lith-ion battery (this one in particular: http://pedalease.co.uk/index.php?rt=product/product&path=66&product_id=13172287) and recently the fuse on it decided to go. So i go and buy another fuse for it (who knew it was so hard to find a 40a fuse !?) and it blows straight away and melts (see picture). When i got in I had a look and noticed the wire connecting the battery to the control unit was extremely lose. Im wondering if that was the cause of it going a second time. But my main question is, now that my fuse holder is melted, it seems impossible to find another that can withstand 40a (a lot that i can find say 20a max), so where can i get another one or how can i go about sorting this problem ? Thanks

However, if you have melted the fuse holder I suspect there is a wiring problem somewhere that needs to be corrected first.

Thank you, I was thinking the melted fuse/holder was a bit excessive for a loose wire. But i cant think why there would be a problem all of a sudden. I recently got a new hub motor kit as my last one was damaged however i've been riding on it for a few weeks no problems.

Your fuseholder is completely the wrong one for 40 amps, so is the battery connector and the wires. The connector might just about be OK for 20 amps. You need wires of 14g or thicker, ideally silicone insulated.

That's not the connector and fuse from the battery you linked to un post #1.

What would you recommend getting then ? My knowledge for things like this is limited xD The set up has been working fine for months with a lot of riding, not sure why its acting up now. If you could list the things i need to get it back up and running again, that would be greatly appreciated :3

I can't advise unless yoy shou us what you have. Why do you have that connector and fuse? Which battery do you have?

The link to the battery i have is in my original post, the two wires you see in the photo attack to the 2 wires from the batter. The connector then plugs in the the control unit (not sure if control units differ)
