Are these Iron Nitride magnets really better, or is it hype? The tech was supposedly discovered in the 50's. If so, it's taken a lo-ong time to develop!

NIRON company from 2015-ish

Murray-Smith
"30% less magnet required, 10-15% less weight, or up to 3 times the power for same cost per kilo".
Great new products on the way this year, or will it disappear again? Time will tell.

The wikipedia for iron nitrite contains the word 'metastable'. My guess is no commercial solution has been found that is cheap and durable enough to out compete rare earth magnets.

Good to know other options are out there.

I see "Iron nitrides also make the strongest naturally magnetic material. " and
"iron nitride, Fe2N decomposes under loss of molecular nitrogen at around 400 °C "
I hope that means a workable material similar to Ferrite/Ceramic magnets?
