Hi

As title I’ve been receiving a lot of junk emails from LinkedIn
Now I know these have originated from here as they say to fat rat and this is the only site or place for that matter I use that name
So as far as I see it one of two things is going on
Your selling emails address to third parties
Or your site security is rubbish and all members are having there personal details hacked as there no other way my email and this user name should be tied together in a 3 rd party email
By the way when you open the email and try and unsubscribe it puts you on a Canadian pharmacy site trying to sell viagra

One not happy person

If that was the case many of us would be in the same situation. Somewhere there is a compromised server but as you seem to be alone have you ran an anti-virus scan on your computer?

I haven't received any from anyone. You must know someone who has joined LinkedIn and has given them your name as a prospective member.
Hi
I’m not on it and never have been
Also my name on here is the only place anywhere I use fat rat as a name
That and the email both linked here and no where else so it has to originate via here
Also there not genuine emails as I mentioned

Hi
I only use an apple iPhone to go on this site so no antivirus scan
This place is the only link in my name and email anywhere
I’m also always the first no matter what
I suppose it serves me right as every time I log on here it say site insecure but was told it’s nothing to worry about
Guess it is

OK so I will go out on a limb and suggest a compromised ad server with a fishing code, have you clicked on any ad links on the site?

You might be jumping to conclusions.

Sometimes when you've used a particular username with an e-mail address it's your own browser or e-mail client that links and displays the name, not anything external or suspicious.

I've never had any spam resulting from my details on this site.

You’re hopefully right
But it is strange it’s only my name on here and no other forum I’m on
6 other forums same email but no other issues
And yes I am careful what I click on
Only noticed this as it’s been going on for months and I was sick of seeing the emails so clicked unsubscribe after opening one

This does make me wander thou as this is the only site I go on that says site insecure when logging on

Are the emails from Linkedin or are they spoofing? then forward them to phishing@linkedin.com

How are the emails addressed to you to show you are 'Fat Cat'

Fat Cat <yourname@domain.co.uk> ?

As your email client app could be adding your 'Fat Cat' name depending on how it was set up / learnt from a previous email from the Forum i.e if you have had a PM notification etc.

Usually if you show hidden headers of the email it can give important clues

Hi Fat Rat,

Sorry for the delay in replying, I've been checking through our server this afternoon and making sure that everything is as it should be.

In your original post you asked whether we sell email addresses to third parties? This is something we've never done and will never do.

The "Not secure" message next to the URL will be resolved shortly as we move over to https://.

Pedelecs is undergoing a re-design as we speak and this will all happen at the same time which should be sometime later this month.

Hi
When I get the next batch I will have a good look on a pc instead of the iPhone
I will have a good look at your suggestions and see what’s what
Thanks

I've also been inundated with spam emails from Linkedin over the last week or so but luckily they all go in my junk email folder. Suppose whoever is sending them will soon get fed up, hopefully!

I think your sites database has been hacked. I've been recieving fake linkedin stuff for a while now, it goes straight n my junkmail and doesn't trouble me, but this morning I receieved an extortion email claiming to have footage of me enjoying my "happy time" (I'd be impressed if they really did since i don't even have a webcam) and claiming to know my email password. the password they showed me in the mail was the one i use to log in here. This is the only site on which i use that password.
