New 705se - noisy brakes, battery efficiency

hi, have not cycled for many years but have taken delivery of a new wisper 705se for the short trip to work. bike running well but very loud squealing noise when braking to a stop ...are there any minor adjustments required or is this just the brakes bedding in ?
as battery is running down it seems to be less powerful on the uphill return trip than when the battery was fully charged...is this to be expected on a brand new battery....still on its first charge up and running it down to empty as recommended......
thanks in advance for any for any suggestions on these two questions.

Can't answer about the brakes but if rim type a small adjustment to the angle of them as they touch the rim can cure the squeal.

As the battery runs down the bike will feel less powerful, however, as its new perform a couple of full charge, full discharge, full charge cycles. Lithium batteries will improve their capacity and performance over a number of charge cycles and then you should get full performance but the bike will always feel less powerful as the battery nears empty. Have fun!

front disc brake noise

hi, the brake noise is from the front disc , only happens when just coming to complete stop.....never had a bike with disc brake before...anyone know how to make adjustment (idiots guide needed with some pic's !!!) not sure how to do this from the manual info....

just an early observation.....battery does not assist uphill when about a quarter still showing. its quite a struggle on this bike with no assist when trying to start uphill !!!!

soon as battery recharged assist is brilliant .......need to get the 3 full discharges out of the way ,then keep topped up for the uphill return journey from work....

Disk brakes are not the most obvious thing to set up, I find the inside caliper needs more adjusting than the one connected to the cable, use a hex key between the spokes until it binds and then ease back one click.
Brakes can squeak, it depends on several factors. They can also get contaminated so if they feel a bit rubbish it may be worth trying new pads.

As for the battery I have never done a conditioning cycle as I don't want to run out of power 10 miles from my destination, it's not caused me a problem.

update on new wisper 705 se .... brakes no longer squealing !!!! used alcohol on a cloth and cleaned disc rims several times.(found this tip on you tube) maybe they are also 'bedded in' now.

battery has had 3 full charge/discharge cycles.
i am disappointed with the non linear performance of the battery (8ah version).
shortly after reaching half empty, there is a huge fall off in assistance on inclines. when still quarter reading, assist is virtually zero on inclines.
this of course has a huge impact on the assisted range of the bike and the battery requires much more recharging than i was expecting, as it really needs to be full when starting out.
i live in a very hilly small town so assist uphill is a prime requirement.

is this the normal performance of these batteries or should i be having it checked out ? going to a service centre next month for its 3 month check so will raise this with them.......

any thoughts /comments on this appreciated. how does one check the battery
performance with a meter ??

regards

The 14Ah battery would seem to be a better choice for you. The voltage will hold up longer and it will be less stressed.

thanks nrg.....
in hindsight i should have paid the extra for the bigger battery (14 ah) , but was led to believe that this was a distance factor not a 'power' factor and as i do not intend to cover more than 20 miles on any one journey....the 8ah should have been adequate.
where i am, 10 (hilly) miles is about the range for good power assist....
i notice wisper are introducing a 15+ah battery for next year....
i guess this is the way new technology moves...very fast just like computers and digital cameras...soon as you buy one the spec improves immediately !!!

i would like to know how the battery performance is measured by wisper as the guarantee is for 2 years that it will retain 70% of its original power.
wisper can obviously do this for warranty claims.
