Old 750Se question

Hi All,

I am working on an older 750Se that has recently stopped responding to the throttle and turn on switch, ie, it's dead!!
Now this bike has only got the throttle connected to the s/c as it has been running for the last few years with all the other gubbins disconnected. So there is no pedal sensor, brake switches (brake levers have been replaced with better bicycle ones) or green button connected.

The s/c has the following printed on it:-
37v, Max 14A, Typ7A, under voltage 31.5v
Speed signal input 1.2-4.4v
Brake input LOW
No. WS 0805004391
Date 05/08
ECN 00057

The throttle connector has 6 wires all in line:-
red
yellow
black
orange
brown
white

The throttle is the original one fitted to the bike
It's a black unit with;-
FULL
HALF
EMPTY
And a RED button to turn it on
And of course a twist throttle to control the motor speed!

The bike is a;-
Wisper Works 750Se
Frame number A8D13184

So my question is how do I check whether it's the Throttle unit or the s/c that gone kaput?

Cheers

I doubt very much it's the controller, but not impossible. It would help to have a picture of the controller that shoows all the wires and connections to it. The throttle wires will be red and black 5v and 0v to supply the throottle, white probably signal wire to the controller( could be yellow). Then two of the other three are for the switch and one for the LEDs. It's important to identify the two switch wires because they switch the battery on and off. Some controllers have a thin red or orange wire that has to be energised with battery voltage before the controller is active. Without seeing the wires, I can't say if this is so with your bike. I guess that you're saying that the LEDs on the throttle are not working, so that sounds like a problem between the switch and the battery. Therefore you need to identify these two wires (guess brown and yellow or brown and orange), check them with a multimeter that beeps when connected so that you can check that the switch works, then follow the wires to the battery. Then report back

I'll take some piccies later and try to post them.
BTW it's not just that the LEDs don't work, the bike is completely dead, no power to the motor at all!!
