I use an ebco UCL10 . Super bike until I can hardly pedal any more as I am now disabled. There is no throttle fitted as standard so I am looking for a way to engage the motor without pedalling or at least with very little effort. Can I move the pas sensor and ring onto the front or rear wheel so to activate the motor I then would use the brake cut out to shut down the motor. Any advices PLEASE. I can be mailed at: norfolkpunch1@aol.com

Even if it was possible how would that be any better ?
The wheels still need to rotate as does the crank, how do you perceive to gain motion with out peddling or a throttle connection.
The only possibility is to see if the controller has a spare unused 3 pin/wire connector for a throttle or possibly swap out the controller for another which allows a throttle.

My idea was that I wouldn't have to keep pedalling to keep the motor running. Once the bike is moving the PAS sensor would activate from the front/rear wheel and I then wouldn't need to pedal at all. My problem is that my lungs are really bad and the slightest exertion and I am gasping for breath. There is a kwik fit pas sensor by Panda bikes that would save having to strip down the crank , so I can still use the original sensor but move the magnets. We shall see.

Hi Malcolm

What you are describing is a kind of cruise function - which is not strictly legal. To be legal you must be actively pedalling to receive support

Given that therefore it's not going to be a legal conversion, if you're happy with that then why not just use a thumb throttle? Once you get going you can just hold down the thumb throttle and you'll keep going...

Only if his controller is able to accommodate one.

True
All our kits come with controllers that have an option to add a throttle :)
Thanks for the input guys. I have looked at the tranz controller and there is no facility for a throttle. Every input is in use with nothing spare. I will try to use an easy fit PAS kit on the rear wheel and connect it to the pas wiring that already exists. I will use the cut out brake to shut the motor off until I can fit another cut. If this adaption doesn't work for me I will buy a conversion kit but then will need to adapt or make up a battery connector (easy but I hate having loose wires anywhere). At least I will only have to pedal a little to bring the motor into use but not have to keep pedalling. II realise this is not legal although converting a normal bike to an assisted bike you can have a throttle , weird laws. If I have to buy a kit I will upgrade to 500watt with new 26" wheel inclusive.

Yes. And the motor shouldn't start.

It only works in one direction. If it's a normal PAS with magnet disc and hall sensor, you can reverse the direction by flipping the magnet disc.
