This has possibly been discussed before , is the general opinion here that there will be an increase in cycle paths ?.
Imho as a taxi driver in a semi rural area the first priority should be potholes/road surfaces but simultaneously it can't be difficult to build a cycle lane along side , there's plenty of ignored overgrown verges that could be utilised efficiently ,
Just a thought after a road ride today on some appalling surfaces .

It's likely that the focus will be on urban area's and, if history is a guide, box ticking local authorities will be getting the paint brush out and creating more lanes of death that merely allow vehicles to pass dangerously close with impunlty. Maybe one should start a firm making "Cyclists Dismount Here" signs, 'cos you could be onto a winner

Anyway, it's first thing in the morning and I'm feeling cranky.
Perhaps, maybe, with enough shove, we'll get something more fitting this time. A segregated network of cycle roads complete with signage, traffic lights, known priorities and community support, to facilitate an overwhelming increase in utility cycling. Cargoe bikes replacing urban tractor range rovers and kids cycling to school in buddy gaggles.
Well a man can dream can't he?

So many roads today with authorities messing them up with more them " speed bumps "

ill have to start wearing glasses when out on the bike now.. as so close today of going straight over one when going quite fast I admit .. and had to quickly dodge around it
or else would have been possibly lay in some hospital bed now .

Pot holes also can be bad for all us bicycle users and also car users also
and that's something all authority should be looking more into fixing .

Cycle paths im all for as the more safety for bicycle users then the better .

New cycle infrastructure is under consultation and one of the briefs is that no painted lines or cycles on the road are to be considered, proper segregated lanes with a barrier are part of the shake up.
Also a new raft of rewording of the HW code is under consultation to more help vulnerable users, in practice I doubt it will help much as most are oblivious to the HW code and any of the rules.
