with a trailer that size you could carry another 10 batteries, that would increase the range more then this trailer claims...

I think Flecc posted a photo of the ultimate setup the other day, a motor in each wheel and a petrol generator on the luggage rack. Much more tempting.

There are other powered trailers using batteries like the one wheeled one below, intended for bikes and trikes. They tend to look a bit massive to have following around, but the trouble is they need weight to give traction. Too light and the powered wheel(s) would just spin at the slightest excuse uphill or when accelerating, such as on damp roads or loose surfaces:
