Thank you, I've got the motor running but it shows only 34kph on the display. Is there a way to reset it? I don't think it's going at maximum speed. Attached pics of the frView attachment 63883ewheel chainset and bike frame. There is a problem connecting the
controller to the motor. The motor connector has 9 seperate pins and the controller has a white 9 pin block. The pins will slide into the block and it works but it looks like it should have something better. I've just put bits of sleeving over the brass pins to prevent them shorting out. The controller will regulate the max speed by reading the pulse frequency from the motor's hall sensors. It translates the pulse frequency into speed by using the wheel size and the P1 setting, which is the number of magnets in the motor's rotor times the motor's reduction ratio. The speed display comes from the speed sensor if you set P2 to 1 or 6, or the hall sensors if you set P2 to zero.

How do you know that the speed displayed is correct?

The motor has it's own maximum rpm of around 260 rpm, so I'd you don't used it as a hub-motor, you have to compensate for gearing to get the correct max bike speed and use an external speed sensor on the wheel with P2 set to 1 if you want the correct bike speed displayed.

You need to tell us what you done with speed sensors, gearing and settings to make sense of what you've said.
