Hi, just got a new bike, need to get a five pack of inner tubes and I am soon confused what I need.

I have 700c wheels, (622x19 28's) I think)
My tyres are 42-622
My valves are Schrader

Most website that sell inner tubes add to my confusion by listing so many types.

Wiggle list a "Schrader 40mm, 700 x 28/42" are these the right ones?

Any help appreciated.

The inner tube will have a min & max range for the thickness of tyre.

You'll be looking, for example, a 700 x 38-45C tube.

The ones wiggle say are 40mm 700 x 28/42 is quite a wide range. 40mm is the valve length.

Hi Rusky, perfect explanation, I now understand it. I have found a Continental which is listed as 700 x 32/47 which seems a better fit for my tyre I guess, these are what I will go for, thanks again.........seems so obvious when you read your explanation.............

Talking of valve types, the wheel that came with my Bafang CST rear hub motor was a twin walled samson which was drilled out, despite the very narrow top, for a shrader valve.(perhaps the Chinese don't do presta!) I had troubles to insert the shrader, it barely made it to fresh air before inflating the tyre and not much more at 60psi. So I took the inner out and fitted a Presta so back and front tyres could have just one spare on a trip.Plenty long enough but it does move a little in it's now oversized hole. I don't want to tighten up the locking ring onto the rim as it is supposed to be bad for the valve.
