PThe failed chain has the X in the side plate that says KMC. Unless it's a fake, no reason to change as they have a great reputation...

PI use a KMC X8, and I've never had one break like that. But my mid-motor is a lowly 36V "250W" Bafang BBS01B @20A on a 20" wheeled bike.

No. It seems to be a test that requires you to have certain things. Usual eapc stuff plus, I believe a side stand, mudguard edge...
