Hi all...I'm buying a new bike, I'm not fully committed yet so appreciate any comments. It is a Cube town hybrid one 400 (2019) step through version, Price I'm paying is £1439. I've said it earlier, "wish you were nearer", It's a 450 mile round trip for me. I no longer have a car, a guy near me wants £200 to bring me to collect bike. "Should I take it out the box?" If I was coming to collect I'd want to see it out of the box, as I imagine would anyone, so nothing lost by doing it now.

"How far's your commute?" I don't have a commute, I've been retired now for some 15 years. and just cycle as an alternative to doing nothing and hopefully extending my life slightly. I'm mostly cycling on my own now, back in the day when I rode a standard mountain bike I occasionally rode with the Wakefield cycle club but sadly the Wakefield club have no time for e riders. and part of me has considered the lightest of a standard bike but I'd hate to spend £1000 plus and find that I couldn't ride it. The only bike shop in my area is Halfords and they have nothing lightweight. I'm thinking my best bet would be the step through version of the Oxygen. I'm pretty sure I could get on with that having the cross bar version but I'd like to be sure I couldn't ride a standard bike first. cheers....Mike

Hi ….I'm considering buying a GTECH ebike, available at the moment with an extra battery for £995. I'm currently using an Oxygen and in the last 12 months I've notched up 4000 miles, over 20,000 miles in the last 10 years over 9 ebikes…… but at 79 years old I'm not as agile as I once was and it is too heavy for me, I was considering buying the Oxygen step through but that's £1450 and weighs considerably more than the GTECH (16kg)...why does my Oxygen weigh 10 kg more ?. Who's got a GTECH ?..you happy with it ? ...any comments appreciated any advice appreciated.....Mike

Hi...I'm looking to sell my Oxygen bike, I bought it in August 2016 so it's still under warranty. I am pretty sure John would honour the warranty as I intend buying the step through version of the same bike. (I'm 78 and feel I would be safer on a step through) It is in excellent condition...a few surface marks from when it's locked up on my daily newspaper collection. It's done 3670 miles and runs great, I'd gladly swap it for the ST version of the same bike ...Anyone like to make me an offer ? I live in Wakefield .....Perhaps Flecc would be kind enough to value it for me. ...cheers....Mike

Hi....merry Christmas everyone. My Son in law has bought an electric scooter for my 11 year old grandson. I was of the impression that these were illegal but my wife says not, "Argos" and "Toys are Us" "wouldn't sell them if they were illegal" I started saying that "Its not illegal to sell them, just to use them on public roads" but I sensed an argument coming so I shut up. I don't want to see my son in law walk into trouble so I thought I'd get my facts right. What does the law say ? thanks and all the best for Christmas. ...Mike

An odd charge and one I've not heard before. Is it not strange that a motor vehicle can be driven legally at 30moh yet a cyclist travelling at 18mph is considered wanton and reckless and could go to prison ? ....sounds like a case of double standards

Hi Steve....I don't know how far you are from Rotherham but if possible contact John Camm at SYEBC, he's a great guy and very obliging. He has a dozen bikes in his showroom including the one you're looking at. I bought my Oxygen from him and if you mention that. Mike at Wakefield said he'd give you a discount I'm pretty sure he'd knock you a bit off, whether or not he does financeI don't know, but worth checking. ....best of luck....Mike

Hi all...thanks for your input...the reason for my post was that I was interested in buying a Cube cross pro 400 which is classed as a womens bike. This in itself does not bother me but I've since come to think that even though I'm only 5'6" this bike would be too small for me. I'm also thinking that I should stick with my current dealer even though he's 25 miles from me as opposed to the Cube dealer some 8 miles. Before I can buy anything else I need to sell my Kalkhoff Tazman which is proving impossible, I'm currently riding an Oxygen S-Cross ST which I prefer to the Kalkhoff....big mistake buying 90 miles from home. ...the search goes on ....cheers...Mike

Thanks Rob...I rarely do much more than 20 miles these days. Being nearly 80 and a lot less agile I need to buy a stepthrough, I've seen a cube I like online but trying to find more info is proving difficult. It's classed as a ladies, but what makes it a ladies, I can't figure. ....cheers....Mike

Hi…I’m looking to sell my Kalkhoff Tasman electric bike, It is powered by an Impulse 2 Motor and a 17ah battery, It’s a 50cm crossbar model. I bought it new from 50 Cycles in October 2015 and paid £1795.00. It’s good for over 100 miles in eco mode, half that in full power. It’s in excellent condition and runs like it did when new…perfectly. …very quiet and smoothly….no knocks, squeaks or rattles. It’s less than 2 years old and done less than 3000miles. It’s recently serviced and a new chain fitted and more recently tried and tested and possibly a software upgrade by Joe at Loughborough. ….Joe found it faultless. I’ve recently fitted new Schwalbe Marathon puncture proof tyres and new Schrader valved inner tubes. It’s fitted with a very solid lock on the rear forks. It’s fitted with excellent lights powered by the built in dynamo hub. …these lights stay on for a few minutes when stopped. ….obviously it comes with a charger and 2 keys. I should add that I changed the handlebars for NC-17 handlebars I much prefer these bars but I will include the original bars ….easily replaced in 15 minutes. I’m selling it because I’m 78 years old and need to buy a stepthrough. ….I’m asking £750, I live in Wakefield WF2 …come and look at it…you will not be sorry, If you don’t think it’s worth £750….make me a very near offer. thanks d8....I was worried about test rides, which obviously a potential buyer is gonna want. I cannot send it and get cash...can I ? There is still 5 months on the warranty,but whether 50C would honour it, I don't know. ....gotta be cash on collection I suppose so no mail no paypal.
