January 25, 201313 yr Currently cable brake and would like to fit a rear hydraulic disc/caliper Is this even possible? Bike is a Freego with a hub motor
January 25, 201313 yr Virtually any hydraulic brake will fit. Idon't know how much clearance you have between the caliper and motot. Often you need to go up to 180mm disc to get more clearance, which would require a caliper spacer/adapter for the larger disc. The main problem is that normal hydraulic brakes don't have switches in to switch off the controller, and you really need one on the back brake. You can get switched hydraulic brakes from Juicy Bikes or the Tektro Auriga E-comp. There's also the Tektro Auriga E-SUB that somebody was selling a while ago - complete kit for £40. These are the only ones I can find now: CyclePath - Tektro Auriga E-Sub, hydraulic disc brake with lever, disc, caliper, hose and sensor control for electric bike
October 30, 201312 yr The FreeGo rear motor uses a non-standard disc rotor hole spacing mount and when I uprgraded mine from V-brake to disc I could only find the standard 160mm diameter ones with the correct mounting hole spacing. Standard ISO disc brake rotors did not fit.
