June 10, 201312 yr I broke a rear-wheel spoke on my Emate City (2012 model). Can anyone tell me what size/guage spoke I need to replace it?
June 10, 201312 yr According to their website the spokes are 13s gauge stainless steel, for the length just measure the old pieces.
June 10, 201312 yr I've got some spokes off an Emate if you want to try them. They came from a wheel that had one or two broken ones, so they might not be ideal, but should get you out of trouble if you need something quickly. If you want a few, PM me your address, and measure the length of the broken one from the bend to the end because they're all mixed up with other spokes, so I don't know which are which.
June 10, 201312 yr I never realised the importance of spokes (re. the trueness of the wheel) before I had a problem on my MTB. Is there anything I can do to ensure my spokes are in good order?

June 10, 201312 yr Author *Novice question* - can I measure the spoke in-situ in the wheel, or do I need to remove it?
June 10, 201312 yr If you can see any of the thread, you can measure from the bend to it. but not if the nipple overlaps the thread. You can undo a nipple a bit to expose it. I do up my spokes until it gets difficult to turn the key.
June 10, 201312 yr Ah. A key. Not easy to find the right size. Bike shops don't normally do them. This type work bur some of the cheaper ones don't fit so well: 8 Way Bicycle Spoke Key Bike Cycle Wheel Rim Wrench Spanner Tool Nipple | eBay
