I have had my ebike for 6 weeks and think its great, it gets me to work quicker than the train and car and of course cheaper. The trouble is i dont enjoy it that much, i feel very vulnerable, so im thinking that maybe a quadbike would be better, i would like to be able to travel up to 40mph and a range of 18 miles ideally, it would need to be road legal, i have looked on the internet and they are very expensive and not many are just electric, so the only other option is to build one, any ideas anyone.

They cannot be used on the roads unless taken though single vehicle approval and registered as motor vehicles. Genuinely private land use only.

 

The unregistered e-power rules only cover e-bikes to 250 watts and 40 kilos, and trikes to 250 watts and 60 kilos. At one time a few pedicabs in London were converted to e-power but they exceeded the 60 kilo limit and were confiscated by the Metropolitan Police.

 

In mainland Europe the law has no weight limit for trikes, but I think unregistered quad bike power is illegal there too.

I don't understand the current fad for road going quads. Basically they have all the disadvantages of a motorcycle, but with none of the advantages either.
