August 8, 201411 yr Whilst unpacking a recent delivery of an bike with throttle my wife inadvertently cut through the throttle cable. I now need to rejoin the two ends. The outer cable has 3 small insulated wires within (red, white and black). The guy at Maplin said I could join the two cable ends together in a single crimp. Being rather ignorant on such matters I thought I would check on here if that was ok. To the uneducated it seems odd to have 3 separately insulated wires all joined together (in a single crimp) where they connect up with the other end of the cable. Thanks in advance for advice you can give.

I would probably twist, solder, then heat shrink sleeve each core, then the whole lot.
August 8, 201411 yr Author OK, thanks. I will join the 3 wires separately (I have some connectors to do this).
August 9, 201411 yr Author No soldering iron (or competency in using one). I have now joined them, heat shrink around each coloured wire and then heat shrink over the whole cable. The throttle now works and hopefully the join will be watertight. Thanks all for your help.
