June 3, 201510 yr I have just bought a frog battery from BMS which is suposed to be 15amph 24v. However it is the same size and weight as my original (3kg). From the blogs here I expected it to be heavier and bigger. Has anyone else bought this battery and can confirm its weight and size. I sent pictures back to BMS and they confirm it is the 15amph model but I am not convinced. Is there a simple way for me to check the capacity other than a ride test against the existing one? HELP PLEASE Robin
June 3, 201510 yr I purchased mine in 2011/12 and it is still going strong, although they might be using different cells now: http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/bmsbattery-sucessful-purchase.10082/
June 3, 201510 yr Yoy can't go by size and weight without knowing what type if cells are inside. Modern cells have more capacity. If it had say 18650 cells, there would be 7S6P of 2500mah, which is 42 cells. They weigh about 50g each, so the total battery would be about 3 kg, though it could have 7S5P of 3000mah, so about 2.5kg total. Before condemning the battery, you should try it, then tell us how much better it is than your previous one.
