Dual purpose bike needed

Featured Replies

We have been considering getting an e-bike for a year or so, but have only started looking seriously in the last couple of weeks but would like to get one pretty soon.

I could do with one to increase my fitness following illness and to be able to keep up with hubby who is a keen cyclist (can easily do 50 miles in one go). We live at the top of a hillside, so going out is ok but coming back is a no-go for me at the moment!

Hubby would like to use it for playing on the trails and riding in the woods/hills nearby.

We are both 5'10" with similar inside leg and can ride the same bikes so no issue there.

We have a budget of around £2500 and have looked at Trek, Cube and Specialised in more detail. Not so keen on the Specialised as it doesn't have a control/display on the handlebars.

Does anyone have experience with any of these? Appreciate any help.

Haibike are generally considered the go to brand for mtb. My personal experience of KTM is good. Buying local is good so best to see what brands are available near to you. All the bikes you list should be decent enough. Try a few out before buying (preferably with different motors, Bosch, Yamaha, Shimano and Brose will probably be available amongst the brands mentioned.)
