Freego Raptor & Battery Pack

Featured Replies

Hello, I recently bought a little used Freego Raptor for a fraction of it's new cost. This is ideal for me because I wanted a (light) pedal assist bike to help with a 15 mile each way commute.

I live in Cambs, so it is relatively flat, I've initially been using the bike to build up to getting to work range (without being too knackered when I get there) so I've been cycling to my local town for little shopping trips etc. The battery will typically last for 2 x 13 mile round trips, so 26 miles in total. Pedal assist on 3 is good to get you quickly up to 15mph, then leg power continues.

However, I really would like to plan for longer rides and would need a 2nd battery pack. As Freego are no longer trading, does anyone either have, or know where I could get a spare pack please?

Michael

I'm pretty sure that you can use any battery you want. Just replace the Freego battery and carrier with a standard downtube battery of your choice, then change the connector.

You need to check what's in the connector to be absolutely sure. My guess is that it's a 4-pin one with the red and black wires doubled up.

Something like this would probably work, but you must check the connectors.

I like the factory photos on that store site, they churn out batteries like cigarettes.

That battery looks just like the one on the Raptor, it would not surprise me one bit if it were the exact same one.

The Raptor's battery is 24v, 5.5 ah, but sometimes two of these batteries are used.

Have a look at this thread featuring the Raptor battery:

Post #20 gives one suggestion for a suitable 24v battery.

Hello. I've got a Freego Raptor with the two standard batteries. I'm looking at upgrading the batteries if possible or failing that I may have to have a battery recelled. If anyone can shed a light on this, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks
