July 19, 20196 yr So when parked up at my work I like to remove the battery and computer from the bike to make it less desirable to theives, but on days like today when it rains I have to try to protect my controller, how do you guys handle this? Image is of how I currently handle it. Cheers!
July 19, 20196 yr Use a cape to protect yourself and the bike when riding in the rain. When you park up, use the cape as a bike cover. There are too many risks associated with leaving an uncovered electric bike in the rain. My advice is don't do it.

There are too many risks associated with leaving an uncovered electric bike in the rain. My advice is don't do it. I don't drive so my options are very much limited on that front. The wiring is all waterproof connectors, the computer is removed and the hub is waterproof isn't it? So the only part to protect as I see it is the controller port as the controller/battery dock is waterproof when all put together. Unless there's a high instance and horror stories of these things failing in rain from bad construction?
July 19, 20196 yr Author Using a cape has nothing to do with whether you drive a car or not. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Anyoo-Waterproof-Portable-Lightweight-Backpacking/dp/B07CP2GY9J/ref%3Dasc_df_B07CP2GY9J/%3Ftag%3Dgoogshopuk-21%26linkCode%3Ddf0%26hvadid%3D310416169113%26hvpos%3D1o1%26hvnetw%3Dg%26hvrand%3D3697406261600240434%26hvpone%3D%26hvptwo%3D%26hvqmt%3D%26hvdev%3Dt%26hvdvcmdl%3D%26hvlocint%3D%26hvlocphy%3D1006500%26hvtargid%3Dpla-469636432028%26psc%3D1&cshid=1563538227366 Apologies, I think I was fixated on assessing the weather proofing of the remaining components A cape could work, and it looks less "professional" than a proper cover and could attract less attention I guess. Cheers!
July 19, 20196 yr What vfr said For what is worth I have never (yet) has water ingress issues caused by riding in rain. Quite a few by leaving it standing in rain. Avoid or protect is the answer
