June 4, 20205 yr Hi everyone, I am looking to buy a compact ebike for a commuting in London. It doesn't need to be folding ... just small. I am struggling to find any suitable bikes on the UK market in this category. I would very much like mudguards and a rear rack plus hub gears. My commute is about 7 miles and involves a steep hill (Crouch End). I am in my late 30s and of a small frame - 60kg & 165cm So far I have come across the following: Cube Hybrid Compact 20" - it has hub gears and rear rack but I find it a bit uncomfortable (I am only 5'5" and with the sadle on the lowest possible I barely reach the ground) R&M Tinker - totally out of my price range Orbea Katu E30 - I couldn't find anywhere in London stock to test ride it. Hercules Futura Compact - same as the Orbea no stock. I am aware of other brands such as I:SY and Flyer and also Benno which have compact models but they don't have dealership in the UK. What am I missing in this list? Could anyone recommend any other similar bikes on the UK market? Ideally I would like a Bosch system but I am happy to give other systems a go too, as long as I can test ride it before I buy. Hub gears are important to me too! Thanks!
June 4, 20205 yr I would recommend you get a Brompton and convert it to electric. The motor transforms the ride! folded: https://wooshbikes.co.uk/?hubkits#q70kit
June 5, 20205 yr Author Thanks Woosh! I wouldn't trust myself to instal a motor and battery to any bike.
