Schwalbe marathon racer tyre

Featured Replies

Hi, my marathon tyres were needing replaced so I had a look at any deals going.

So I bought some marathon racers

Size: 26 X 1.5

Pressure: 65 PSI max (I am running at 60psi)

Motor: Bafang 250w mid drive

Motor changes: 60% keep current

Difficulty putting on: Same as standard marathons

Conditions: Road, cycle paths. Wet and dry.

Pros: Better rolling resistance

Better in wet

Lighter

Cons: Less grip

Will wear out quicker

No dynamo track

The first I noticed was the weight difference, they are a lot lighter. On some muddy parts they do not grip as well as standard marathons, to be fair the tyre description says this. I have not a lot of miles on them so this is really first impressions. So far I am pleased with then and they gripped well in the rain today (10 mile route, carrying 2 panniers full of shopping). If they continue to perform in the same way they will probably replace my standard marathons as my tyre of choice.
