September 9, 20214 yr Hi. I have a 2015 Focus Jarifra with an Impulse 2.0 motor. I have some problems with it slipping / making noises when under load. I understand these motors are problematic from the threads on this forum. Iam quite competent mechanically and would like to disassemble motor and have a look if there is anything obvious Ican fix. I attach a photo of chainring / spider. Taking off the cranks reveals the chainring / spider. Does anyone know how this comes off? First thoughts were the silver notched ring on the BB shaft (28 notches and about 30mm diameter) is a lockring? But then thought is this assembly just pressed on? Could not find any obvious tools that would fit if it were a lockring. So wondered if anyone knew before I start prying etc. Thanks in advance.

I emailed Peter and he got back to me with the info. I think at the very least Iwill get the bearing kit from performancebearings and if it seems too big a job i will request their full services. Thanks again for your help.
March 9Mar 9 Hi Ciano, I have the exact same problem. How did you manage to take the spider off? I would very much appreciate your help.

Remove the pedal arm, remove the circlip and wiggle the chainring off. If its rusty in there, use a bit of penetrating oil to free it off. Edited March 10Mar 10 by saneagle
