In addition to the gun possession trial, federal prosecutors have also charged Hunter with evading $1.4 million in tax payments. That trial is expected to take place in September. The indictment lists nine different counts related to tax evasion, carrying a maximum penalty of 17 years in prison

The indictment alleges that Hunter “spent millions of dollars on an extravagant lifestyle rather than paying his tax bills” and that he “willfully failed to pay his 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 taxes on time, despite having access to funds to pay some or all of these taxes.”

you could apply the same ethical criteria to the Trump family. There are plenty of horror stories on the net from the opposing side.

The American system is corrupted to the core, the same billionaires support both sides so the result of the election does not matter to them, they win either way. Joe Biden will come down in history as the poorest president of the USA in recent times, so presumably the least corrupted.

That's whataboutism.

"Fleeced" is putting it mildly! o_O

(I assume that it was a spelling 'checker' that kept changing kWh to kW, and gouging to gauging?

Hehe :))

Current price cap:

Gas price is OK but we do get fleeced on electricity.

That became inevitable when the government guaranteed EDF 19p per unit for HInckley Point electricity when it started, about triple price at the time, in order to get it built at all.

That meant electricity users had to get used to a far larger amount than that in future to pay for distribution, so today's prices are just a softening up measure, which incidentally help to pay for wind farms meanwhile.

The Chinese call it re-education. ;)

.

The entire energy market is a weird thing.

We produce natural gas and crude oil. This is extracted by companies we sell licences to, who extract it, then as it now belongs to them, they put it on the energy market and we buy it at market prices.

Its going to go the same way with the electricity from the windfarms off the coast of Aberdeen.

The government(English) are proposing laying powerlines from Aberdeenshire, the length of the country and over the channel to the EU, where they intend to sell it.

Any excess we need we'll buy from the market at again market rates.

Rather obviously than laying powerlines to N/Scottish/UK communities and saving the consumer money with locally and cheaper to produce renewable energy.

Scottish Power do North South already.

About time too. Those businesses are one way bets. If the business prospers, it makes new billionaires, if not, they blackmail governments to bail them out.

It couldn't be cheaper. The high cost of the turbines means the companies only install them if guaranteed payment for the electricity, whether used or not. With Scotland using less, they'd be paying even more for unused current.

And the people get caught for the cost of decommissioning too. Triple whammy!

Funny kind of "re-education", more like 'Re-gression', haha. :D

'*Royal* Dutch Shell', mmm, something fishy, eh? kerching ;)

Never mind "save the planet" shtick. How about save our pockets?

As another poster pointed out, UK has own gas n oil. But gets fleeced by the "market", I.e. monopoly.

Look for politicians living Above Their Means, geddit?
