Carrera Crossfuse Men’s Electric Hybrid HELP!

Featured Replies

Hi everyone. I purchased a carrera crossfuse ebike with bosh ALP second hand with 600 miles. Basically, I have given it a test and charged the battery fully and when going on turbo mode. I cannot feel that the motor is making a difference nor can I hear a sound of motor working. I essentially don’t feel any push. There is only a very very slight difference between off and turbo.

Is this normal? Help thanks

What about the other modes? Do they work OK?

Try it on an uphill road, where riding without assistance would be really tough. Set off with system turned on, but assistance off. Then gradually go up the assistance levels. Stay well below cutoff speed.

When you are pedalling up the hill, they will be no mistaking whether the motor is helping or not. Don't go straight to Turbo, try all the levels.

If it isn't helping, the first thing to check is the speed sensor. Is the display showing speed? If not, check the spoke magnet. Is it there? Is it properly aligned with the sensor?

If the speed is showing, but there is no assistance and no error code, then probably only a dealer can sort it out, and you will hopefully have warranty to cover it.

Edit:

One more thing: this is a torque sensor bike. It multiplies the effort you put in. Ghost pedalling will not do.

And your cadence (pedal rpm) matters. Needs to be 60 rpm or a bit higher. So on the hill you need to be in a suitable gear. It will not breeze up a hill at very low pedal rpm just because it is in Turbo.

If you are putting effort in, and pedalling just over one turn per second, then it should be helping you quite a lot!

If all else fails, borrow another 'known to be working' torque sensor bike for comparison.
