June 5, 2025Jun 5 In the process of fixing my bafang BBS02 I have accidentally snapped the wire that leads to the headlight. It has never worked and I don't particularly want it on the bike so can I just insulate the ends and leave it? Will this cause any issues going forward. Thanks

Thanks You can just insulate the ends as long as you're careful not to let the wires touch. Normally, the lights would be fitted to a connector on the harness, so you just follow the wire to the connector and unplug it. A better way to install lights is to wire them directly to the battery via a fuse and switch, in which case you follow the wiring to wherever it goes and disconnect it there. It comes down to how yours is wired. Who installed your kit?
June 5, 2025Jun 5 I did! Why can't you simply disconnect the wires where you connected them then, which would be a much better solution?
June 5, 2025Jun 5 Because I'm hydrophobic to the extreme (I've never bathed), I covered those wire ends with self-adhesive marine heat shrink plus self-amalgamating tape.
Wednesday at 14:033 days I’d like to join in on this discussion.I accidentally snapped the cables at the plug on my BAFANG front light – does anyone know where I can buy a replacement? Am I stuck having to buy the whole set – the light and the cable? Can I just buy the cable with the plug on its own?
Thursday at 16:302 days I can't find that cable being sold in isolation. If it was available to buy, I'd expect it to cost nearly as much as the light with the cable. Even short extension cables for Bafang cost more than one would reasonably expect.Remove the battery, strip back to bare wires, use waterproof marine self-adhesive heatshrink, and solder? Wouldn't look as tidy. Edited Thursday at 18:502 days by guerney
Friday at 17:261 day That’s what I did: I drilled a hole in the lamp housing and soldered it directly to the wires inside the lamp. I insulated it – that’s it. The only problem is that the cable is permanently connected, but I’ll manage until I find a replacement.
