September 5, 201114 yr Well have had my Freego for around a month now so I thought I would share my thoughts on it.Well at £1500 for the 17.5 amp battery version was not cheap but I wanted it because I wanted the extra range it would give me being a big boy at 17stone ish.Purchased the bike from a trailblazer bikes Port-Talbot.I must say I liked the Oxygen City or the Big Hit but it was a bit of a trek as I would want to try before I buy.I tried a few e-bikes and was pretty impressed with most of them but I had to travel to try. Port-Talbot which is localish to me a short drive up the M4 gets me there in under half an hour. The bike itself is big heavy well built and feels solid. It has a 7speed Speed Shimano Dureilleur it used to be a 6 speed as this is a new model as for changing gears coming down can be a bothersome from 3 to 2 as the derailleur needs a slight adjustment something I will get my head around. The disk breaks seem ok though I don’t think they would be too good at emergency stop at high speed. The tires are puncture resistant ones they have a Ksheild log on them. There are lots of hills around me and the motor assist has got me up them all with me staying in my seat but with some effort by me which has helped me to lose a few pounds and improve the old fitness level. On the flat or a slight gradient it just flies you along and is dream to ride. I feel no drag when freewheeling the motor cuts out and off I roll. The chap from the shop said I needed to check the nut holding the crank together on a weekly basis as its alloy to steel and can loosen and cause wear in the crank shaft. The little self taper screws holding the battery slider and water bottle needs tightening from time to time because of the rough roads rattling them loose though I have front shock absorbers and do help with a smoother ride. . One of the peddles started to clunk so swapped out for a spare one while I sort a warranty replacement. The saddle is a wide gel affair quite comfy but my butt still aches after a few hours on it. The lights work ok front is connected to main battery rear is manual switch. I ride on very poorly lighted roads as the council is switching them off to save on electricity but the light does the job. I have added a mirror computer and a top box as I was fed up with the backpack. Only thing is the box has made it more difficult to swing the old leg over the back as the box does get in the way a bit. The battery is a big one takes 6 hours plus to charge from flat. The charger has a built in fan and can be a bit distracting if in the same room. Overall I like this bike and am well pleased with it. I would recommend this bike but think about battery size 17.5 amps might be over kill if you just stay local ore do a shortish commute, Have added some pick for your perusal. September 5, 201114 yr Sounds similar to my brothers route. Takes him about 25 mins to get from Bassaleg to Machen (about 6 miles) - nice one. Keep going!
