BBS01 Cube SL Road Pro conversion and long distance commuting

No, no problems at all that I recall. Chainring line was fine and it all went together smoothly. Your thought process was pretty much exactly the same as mine - I thought I could end up with a bike that fitted my requirements better than buying off the shelf, and cheaper to boot. Michael

BBS01 Cube SL Road Pro conversion and long distance commuting

The cutoff speed on the BBS01 can be adjusted to whatever you want, so it can be set to provide assistance over 15mph.

    Bike for long fastish commute

I ended up doing a conversion of a flat bar road bike. The thread is http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/bbs01-cube-sl-road-pro-conversion-and-long-distance-commuting.20706/. It's done over 5,000 miles in its first year but won't be doing more just at the mo as we've just closed the office...

BBS01 Cube SL Road Pro conversion and long distance commuting

5,000 mile review So, clocked over to 5,000 miles just before its first anniversary. I haven't used it so much over the last three months due to the weather and needing to do some maintenance work, but am back using it daily again now. The bike's definitely in its winter plumage at the...

29er+ conversion kit. Range required 45 miles

Apidura are also a very good make of bikepacking bags - www.apidura.com . I'd be a bit concerned with all the weight planned for the front wheel. Two batteries mounted on the forks will add 4-5kg, and with a front wheel motor as well you could be adding 8-10kg in total. That will dramatically...

What should I buy as my first e bike?

Would be as good as any and better than most. I do 40 miles per day on something similar.

    What lights do you use

It does a bit. That is on high though - it's only at that level a few milliseconds each second for an attention-grabbing flash. The main light level isn't as bright as that. The Saferides are great lights. Wonderful example of putting the light right where you need it, and not where you don't.

    What lights do you use

I use twin own-design dipped beam Cree XM-L lightheads at the front, running at 3A. Just finished making a rear light comprising three 2w red Cree XP-E LEDs. I'm only running it at half its maximum current as it's insanely bright anyway. (rear on brightest, front on half power) Michael

Bafang Fun conversion for Boardman Hybrid Pro. Advice needed please.

I read all through the massive Endless Sphere thread about programming these motors first, so knew what could be adjusted and why. I also knew that the motor probably wouldn't meet my needs out of the box, but that it could easily be adjusted to fit my requirements. Being able to provide...

BBS01 Cube SL Road Pro conversion and long distance commuting

The saddlepack is by Apidura, and I got the large one. No problems with thigh clearance and it's very well made. They make a lot of bikepacking luggage - lightweight trekking gear. Although the material is waterproof the seams aren't sealed so I sealed them myself which was a bit of a game. And...

Bafang Fun conversion for Boardman Hybrid Pro. Advice needed please.

Eminently sensible idea. The BBS01 is the one that comes in 250W. I converted a very similar bike with the same motor. The whole conversion, including battery, weighs about 7kg. The thread on the conversion is...

BBS01 Cube SL Road Pro conversion and long distance commuting

By firing the LED light downwards into a parabolic reflector from just behind the focal point of the reflector, like this: I did a little investigation into road light design a while back and trialled various methods. The build thread for the lights themselves is here at mtbr.com (which has a...

BBS01 Cube SL Road Pro conversion and long distance commuting

4,000 mile review The bike's well and truly a winter commuter now - it's grown mudguards and lights, and the saddlepack has been changed for a pair of small panniers (for the required winter waterproofs and clothing). The battery pack lives at the bottom of one of the panniers. BBS01 Hasn't...

BBS01 programming - that doesn't fry the controller

You might not need to change the programming at all as it will probably do what you need in the highest assist level. Changing the limit speed to above 40km/h doesn't require reprogramming the motor as it is altered from the display. The biggest problem I found with the default programming was...

    Programmeble charger

Hi Duncan. Do you definitely need a "smart" charger at both ends? I use the icharger at home and a standard 36V charger at work, both adjusted to cut off at 41V rather than 42. I charge at home at 5A and obviously the icharger can do a lot of fancy stuff, but it has a fan (and the fan in my...

BBS01 programming - that doesn't fry the controller

What do you want the motor to do that it doesn't do already? That might help us determine what settings you might want to tweak, if any. I've reprogrammed my motor and also that of another member here. Mine's done nearly 4k miles fast commuting and the other member's was used by his other half...

18650 battery box for front light

I started with using single cells in a pack and removing them to charge but fairly swiftly simply bought a Magicshine pack and charger for my lights. I needed to charge them every day for my commute and it was simply too much hassle to take the cells out every day. The commercial pack has worked...

    Programmeble charger

Ah, I didn't know you wanted it to work with 13s. 13s chargers are quite a bit more expensive than 10s. The icharger 3010b does have that capability I think, as well as handling 24V - not sure about the 2010.

    Programmeble charger

I use the icharger 1010b+. It does all you want except the input voltage range is 11-18V from memory. I think some of the other chargers in the range cope with 24V . Michael

    Bike to work e-bike

It might be me you're thinking of? I borrowed a Typhoon and the corresponding thread is http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/index.php?threads/18795/ . I thought of one of your bikes when seeing the OP's brief. Michael
