New ebike - teething problems or more?

These are the excluded appliances, so I think Danidl is right: 1. Any fixed luminaire, being a luminaire which cannot easily be moved from one place to another, either because it can only be removed with the use of a tool, or because it is intended for use out of easy reach. 2. Any...

New ebike - teething problems or more?

We are quite fortunate that we have a large outbuilding, which is already sky high with junk, but that box is mahoosive. I did wonder what other people do with the box in the very short term, even in a regular garage, it would take up a lot of space. I have to say, that I would be extremely...

New ebike - teething problems or more?

I think you right. It appears to be Plugs and Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994 (S.I. 1994/1768). This is the legislation according to the gov.uk site: I wonder if an ebike is classed as a domestic appliance? I am thinking it should be as it is charged up in the home, generally.

New ebike - teething problems or more?

It was fitted with an EU plug, so a UK to EU wouldn't work and we have plenty of those here. Sometimes those two pins can still be made to work in our sockets but this one wouldn't, so as I mentioned in my first post, my bf fitted a UK one. However, they shouldn't be sending out chargers that...

New ebike - teething problems or more?

They've not mentioned anything about that. All I know currently is that they will send the new one to me when it arrives from Lapierre.

New ebike - teething problems or more?

It was bought online from Chain Reaction. Even so, they should fit it really. They are being rather presumptive that we can fit it, certainly I wouldn't be able to do it myself.

New ebike - teething problems or more?

As an update, Lapierre are sending a replacement motor so hopefully we will receive that soon. Just as well I have a handy bf here to fit it, or rather I presume he can! Also, they offered a new chainset, although we don't require that. No comment however about the charger not being fitted with...

New ebike - teething problems or more?

Mine has another mode, Eco+, which is lower than Eco. I tried that one but it was too difficult. I want to push myself to help with fitness and losing half a stone, hence why I decided to use Eco mainly, with a little bit of Std and High on the hills. Aside from my legs feeling like lead when I...

New ebike - teething problems or more?

Oh gosh, well if that is the case, there's going to be no disguising I'm on an electric bike!

New ebike - teething problems or more?

If the noise was normal, I would have expected it to be there from the beginning but it wasn't. It was as good as silent until towards the end of my second outing on it. It started when we were on the flat and I was in Eco mode. I know nothing about these motors but maybe it could be a loose...

New ebike - teething problems or more?

100 miles, it will take me months to do that! I managed 13 yesterday and could hardly stand up afterwards! It was pretty much all in Eco though, with Std or High for the hills. What is odd to me is that it was silent yesterday and the time before (with the pedal episode) with noise only suddenly...

New ebike - teething problems or more?

We'll never know about the pedal issue and it is sorted now. I think the pedals should have been fitted to the bike, but that is a separate issue and I suppose had I bought from a store, they would have been. That aside, we have been able to replicate the noise from the motor and have taken a...

New ebike - teething problems or more?

He did put the pedals on correctly, I was watching him when he did it. I had watched the video on Chain Reactions website and told him that the pedals had L and R on them. He is away now until next Friday so I don't think I will have the ability to post a video. Even so, it was silent until we...

New ebike - teething problems or more?

I bought a Lapierre Overvolt Cross 800 with a Yamaha motor in the crank, from Chain Reaction that arrived on Tuesday. Firstly, the charger only had an EU plug with no UK adapter included. My partner had to cut off the EU and attach a UK plug, so I wasn't too impressed with that. Wednesday, we...

    Electric Bike for disabled teenager

I need a small bike, being 5'1 and this week tried the Giant Ease-e+ in small which was too big for me and also a Liv Amiti in XS which was a perfect size. I also sat on a Carerra Crossfire-e in size 16 which was a similar size to the XS Liv. I could put my feet comfortably on the ground with...

    Smaller bike with good range

Yes, the Oxygen S-Cross was on my list but there was no dealer anywhere near. However, likewise this Lapierre, but the spec just seemed too good to miss! He tells me we are 'only' going out for 20 miles the first time as he hasn't been on his bike or trainer now for a few weeks.

    Smaller bike with good range

Just to update, having now tried a few, I have bought this: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/lapierre-overvolt-cross-800-ladies-e-bike-2017/rp-prod148750 Went a little over budget, although used my partner's British Cycling discount to bring the price down a little, so hope I like it when it...

    Smaller bike with good range

So, if we said 15 Wh per hour, would that mean a 400 watt bike would only do about 26 miles and a 500 watt one 33 miles? My bf is home during half term week so we can go out and look at some options then.

    Smaller bike with good range

I did think about this as an option but it still comes back to, for me, the choice being a bit bewildering regarding the range. There is an ebike shop about 100m from our door that is a Freego, and another brand I have never heard of, stockist so they may offer hire too.

    Smaller bike with good range

No, I couldn't do 30 miles without assistance. On the flat, I probably wouldn't need any unless we were some way into the ride. However, I would need one that with various levels of assist along the way and sometimes with no assist, would be good for up to 50 miles without me worrying that I was...
