This comment was posted on the Independent today:

"Liam, you run along and tell everyone, I'm a very difficult woman and I'm not bluffing. They will all be scared out of their wits and I will deliver the People's Brexit. Run Liam, run."
.. was the point that she was not bluffing when she said she was a difficult woman?

Gina Miller at the brexit march:

"Together we must stand up, demand our voices are heard, demand a people's vote so that future generations can hear us say we did our bit we stood up and shouted for a country that's together, kinder, tolerant. This is not a time to be silent."

Polls by YouGov consistently put the number of people who believe that brexit negotiation goes badly at 62% against 22% believing it's going well, 16% don't know.
You can guess where the 22% come from.

Fake news.....March 30,2019
An over zealous French customs officer is stopping trucks at Calais to collect WTO tariffs. The M20 was gridlocked in an hour, the M25 jammed in 3 hours spreading to the M1,M11,M3,M4,M11.
May is being kept informed, currently hill walking in East Anglia,Boris is on a summit in Bermuda,Liam Fox is negotiating a free trade deal with North Korea,Davis has resigned and Grayling suggests we take the train.
Sadly nobody in the cabinet was available for comment but No 10 reported that this is an opportunity to explore the opportunities afforded to us in the rest of the world,if only Heathrow was open.
Rees-Mogg,IDS and Bone were out fox hunting.
Gove has declared a motion of no confidence in May and introduced Henry 8 powers to declare a state of emergency, the U.K. is now a republic and Gove is President.
Still tomorrow we are confident of getting a free trade deal and Brexit will be the success we all knew it would be,it is after all the simplest trade deal that has ever been negotiated.
KudosDave

zlatan, this extract from Mr Austim Mitchell's article:

"For the liberal intellectuals and many of our elite, who saw themselves as cosmopolitan rather than nationalist, Europe was nicer than their brutal, xenophobic compatriots. "

clearly, he sees being a nationalist is a must.

Don't worry the man is an imbecile and always was.
That a man from Grimsby believes this shows just how stupid he is.

"The town’s fishing industry had been ruined when the Europeans cunningly declared the seas around Britain common waters and gave other members, even landlocked Luxembourg, equal access.

The Cod wars with Iceland did that, how could this fool not know it?

And describes them as brutal xenophobes?

That is certainly an opinion, well structured, but perhaps factually deficient. NZ was one of the food sources for the UK, but there was an implied assumption that there was a linked commonwealth with vassal states dotted around the globe. Each of these twinkling lights of commonwealth were growing their own wings, (very complicated metaphor) and fleeing the nest.

The assumption that one should import food from the furthest place on the earth bypassing all the other continents on the way ,demands a very particular arrogance.
