Cycling in London - Rickshaw Regulation

Not strictly electric, but some of them come with it, and anything cycling is of interest to us.

London has now reached some 600 pedicabs (rickshaws) and today's announcement is that regulation is being introduced to control them. Most are in Central London, but some are in inner and outer areas like Lewisham and Croydon.

These numbers mean about every twentieth taxi in London is pedalled, a nice statistic to quote to anyone thinking there's no progress on global warming/traffic etc. Ten years ago they scarcely existed here.

Amusingly for vehicles that mostly travel not much faster than walking pace, the regulations include compulsory seat belt wearing for passengers. What next? Compulsory zimmer frames for pedestrians! :eek:

or copulsory retaining strap so frame cant run away from you
