you can't, it's built inside the bottom bracket, on the non drive side.

The controller reads the speed limit on the LCD and applies it. You can only set it up to 40km/h IIRC. When you turn the magnet round, the controller doesn't know how fast you're going, so there's no limit. You lose the speed display of course.

This doesn't work on all other bikes. Many will revert to 15mph limit if they don't get a speed signal.

25mph is quick enough for me!

So d8veh you're saying you can actually access the magnet? I probably won't mess though. I'd like to see my speed

crE, d8veh means the speed sensor magnet on the rear wheel, I meant the pedelec sensor magnets - disregard what I said earlier about magnet(s).

Oh. Ok :)

Been trying to find videos/video reviews for this bike but I can't find a thing! Been reading about it on this forum though and it suggests its a solid bike and generally good reviews. I'm happy with my choice (haven't even got the bike yet)

I rode the CDL at Redbridge last weekend and enjoyed it, my type of cycle with 700c/28" wheels. Looked good value for the money, was top of my to buy list before I decided to buy BBS01 to convert my exsisting cycle. Edit: The only thing I didn't like was the right throttle, personally for me prefer LH thumb throttle.

Thanks for the info NealH.

Obviously utilising the ability to up the max speed will drain the battery quicker. But will it have an effect on the health of the battery in general?

no. Batteries are better to be in regular use.

There is a theoretical number of cycles a battery can take before it loses it's capacity. Normally quoted as 500 with 80% capacity left(I know that is a generalisation).
Therefore if you use more power you need to recharge more often?
But that is daly recharges for two years so not really likely to make much difference. If you are recharging 5 times or 4 times a week.

Yep I will be recharging 5 days a week.

I'll be doing a 20 mile round trip commute. Would it be best to top up whilst at work as well? Or just leave the charging until I get home..

it's better to recharge at home overnight after 20-30 miles.

Nicad's counted any charge as one cycle, lion's have a different memory so a part charge doesn't count as one cycle. The other thing is they don't fade like Nicad's but give max power until the end then just run out.

So basically. Running at higher than 15mph (off road on private land of course) will not noticeably or significantly degrade the battery.

one thing I did was to replace the front disc brake with a hydraulic calliper (£30 or so from chainreactioncycles), derestricting encourages generally travelling faster one would normally and brakes become much more crucial

true. Braking power does depend on pad size.
The Sirocco CDL comes with Novela disc brakes which have 50% bigger pads than the Zoom disc brakes in the Santana CDL. Hydraulic disc pads are twice as big as the Zoom's.

I've had a look on the website but couldn't see them. Could you provide a link?

I may be wrong, from memory. Could not find the information on the web page, you'd better check with their technical support if you need to know.
