Hi folks.

Recently bought 2nd hand 6 month old Juicy Sport, very impressed with up hill abilities but require more speed on down hill sections. Even relatively minor hill slopes have me free wheeling. Obviously need different gear set up. I don't use 1st gear even on steep hills.

Current gearing is 14-28T, 48T ring. Ratios 44-88''

What are the choices available? (Bob, juicy bikes, or anyone else?)

also, can the throttle be derestricted? also currently got 26 x1.75" tyres. what is the slimmest tyre that would fit on these rims?

Please bare in mind i would take to shop to have this work done so idea of price would be helpful.

thanks, BTW, i'm in north Worcs with nearest ebike shop being Onbike.

obviously the start point must be a call to Bob Wales at Juicy Bikes......he is very obliging, and knows his 'electrics'

....for gearing and tyre size available, any local bke shop will will sell you a larger chainring than a 48 tooth....start at 52 tooth, and/or buy a different gear cluster at the rear, starting at 12 0r 13 smallest cog...

..not sure that anything thinner than 1.75 will have too much effect on outright speed other than slightly easier running.........the tyre brand may be more important than the size

all the best

Hi Mr B
Welcome to the Juicy Gang!
Barry is right - have a look at 52 teeth for the front at your local bike shop. There should be no need to take the bike to any specialist as all our fittings are standard sizes and you'll get a better range from a bike shop. That goes for tyres too, though the Kendas that are fitted as standard are a reliable make, you may find some slimmer if that's your personal desire.
It might interest you to keep an eye on our website. We've just received the first batch of Hydraulic Brakes to play with and eventually offer as an optional upgrade. First impressions are very positive indeed, though the price is currently too high for my liking (£149). On the Juicy website very soon and may well suit other brands such as Wisper and Oxygen for instance.

thanks for replies chaps, was thinking having to change rear sprockets, totally forgot about front cog, DOH! think i could manage that myself.

Bob is it possible to derestrict the throttle?
also, having trouble raising handle bars. have loosened allen nut on top of headstock given it a fair old 'tap' as stated in manual but it won't budge. am i missing something? thanks again

Loosen the bolt at the front of the stem... Found by looking under the riser. Then you can raise the angle of the riser.

Your headstock is similar to this one illustrated on my website. The bolt you were trying is part of the headstock bearings adjustment as you'll see on that link. It's the bolt without a number that you need to slacken to allow the angle to be changed as Bob describes.

Non-adjustable indeed. The only ways to get more height is to replace the whole stem unit with a longer one or change the handlebars to a "riser" version.
