Dear All

I took delivery of a 2011 kalkhoff Pro-Connect Disc a few weeks back and have been aboslutely delighted with every aspect of it so far. As a middle-aged returnee to cycling, in a hilly part of North Norfolk (with strong coastal winds) it has been a great way to ease back into fitness.

Not only that, starting today I am using it for eco-deliveries of my Norfolk Heatwave Hot Pepper Sauce Caribbean Mustard Hot Pepper Sauce from Norfolk , with a double child trailer attached to the rear I can pull many bottles with ease around to our local retailers, without any strain on the strongly built bike. Come the next fuel strike (or middle east oil crisis) I might be the only local food producer delivering to the shops (mind you, no doubt the custom will fall too if folks cannot get around).

I attach a pic of the PC with trailer delivering sauce to our local Budgens - being a long bike plus trailer, the whole thing is as long as some small cars! But it is all very stable. Now I wonder how I will feel about delivering on this in December when it is -3c.....

:D Now that's got me excited! Move over DHL, there will be a UK wide hub network of thousands of electric bike delivery persons delivering thousands of things each year, albeit slowly.

It is years since I lived in London but no doubt there are already pedelec couriers anyway.

Meanwhile, does your name Kitchenman denote a culinary interest or skill? I could franchise the sauce to you for a fee, Hampshire Heatwave has a ring to it...

RE Skeggy - sadly I do not have any outlets in Lincs yet, 16 in Norfolk, but I am awaiting a breakout opportunity (unless you could online sales, which have included most of the UK, and recently Germany, Eire and Canada - I am still waiting for my first order from the Caribbean, which would be rather ironic - a bit like selling ice to Eskimos).

RE Skeggy -
I write songs and used to do that in the kitchen. So, its kitchendemos and kitchenman. I've actually recently been banished to the attic so I really should re-invent myself as atticman and atticdemos! ..

Skeggy... I meant the other ness .. its ...Dungeness ... its south of you!

Sauce franchise? - who knows what the future will bring ... Stranger things have happened ...

Wow, your hardware has just blown my lightweight effort into the weeds, very impressed! Although one of the reasons I opted for a child trailer is so I can drag out my 2 munchkins for leisure trips, while they are still small enough to fit in it (they love it).

Is there a thread on your beast I can look at, to save you repeating the story of it's birth and uses?

Was that intended to be quite so small?

Hi Norfolk Heatwave

That is brilliant.

Best regards

Scott
Thanks! Glad you like it, hope you will still like it if I have a warranty issue :)

Meanwhile, I am always looking for a barcode sponsor if you wish to sponsor my next x thousand barcode labels, which I slap on the back of every bottle - they could say something like: "This sauce has been delivered to your local shop by a kalkhoff electric-powered bike, courtesy of 50 Cycles [website insert then company motto] ".

There's a webpage on my site showing it's uses, and there was also an article in A to B magazine issue 40. Here's the weblink:

.
Great work/site, thanks. I have bookmarked it as I can see it is going to be very useful for self-servicing post warranty expiry, down the road.

Nice one. May your business be long lived and fruitful :)

Hopefully you can get some national coverage from one of the more lefty papers too ;)

LOL, yes I guess the story has it all for "leftys" - the ethnic roots (man), the eco angle, the ethical local "non Tesco" producer dynamic. If only I had Levi Roots' dreadlocks and could speak rasta and play guitar I would have it sorted. The story is definitely not Daily Mail material for the same "lefty" reasons, but might make a shocker in their rag if I was a crack crazed illegal, defrauding benefits, breeding a lot and riding a stolen Kalkhoff while selling cheap chinese sauce made by 4 year old children, containing anti freeze.

(PS: thanks for the nice wishes)

Heh, I think you need to stop expressing yourself if you're going to get into the grauniad ;)
Don't worry about that - many years crime fighting in this country in a former job has left me with right wing views that would make the Daily Mail seem like the Socialist Worker!

My old colleagues were all the same whether black, white, yellow, working, middle or upper class, and all religous backgrounds, once you have witnessed the terrible abuses of law and social systems in this country for a period of years one soon becomes very intolerant of excessive lefty-ness (union reps excepted, who have to live up to their casted roles). But we don't need a debate like that on a bike forum!
