Hi everyone.
I have an old Merida 21 gear bike. Recently I have put together a BBS01B 250W Bafang which was announced as with a 15/18A controller. It is stamped 36V 20A sep. 2016. It was delivered with a current limit set to 15A. Does it mean that increasing the current to 18A makes it a 350W motor ? and would it be safe to do so ?. I am aware of the possibility of increasing the keep current setting. I am close to 100 kg and am looking for the safest way to get the most of the motor in (to me) steep slopes.

If it's stamped 250w, it's a 250w motor.

It's stamped 20A, so you can reprogram it to 20A if you want and no harm will come to it.

It's still a 250w motor even though it would take about 800w from the battery and produce a maximum power of about 600w.

I've seen Norwegian BBS01 motors stamped 250w 36v 25A. They're also 250w motors.

Thanks a lot. It cleared my confusion.
