Alternative Chinese bike conversion.

Spotted this the other day on a street in Kaifa, Guandong province.

Check the pictures out 'clearly no expense was spared'

Chinese version?! Is there any other? ;)

Mate of mine just got back from a trip to Chongqing and Beijing. He was slackjawed at the number of electric bikes on the roads out there. And to think the authorities wanted to ban them all.

Apologies for the size of the pictures. Not quite got the hang of it yet. The problem is you only see your results after posting. Will reduce the size for next time.

the "US/Europe" version seems to have a different/more refined housing (though it could just be a new model).

it does indeed appear to be a Currie Electrodrive (Izip) motor but the drive has been customised to drive the rear sprocket directly rather than the thing to latch on to the spokes - looks like the pedals and chain have been entire disconnected (though connected to a pedelec sensor?)

whats more impressive is the rear pannier rack has had a cushion added so its presumably possible to carry two people on this machine :D
