What to buy

Featured Replies

I am currently looking at a Electric bike. I am unsure if it's going to be suitable as I live in Bradford W. Yorks and commute to Leeds and there are a few steep hills. I am not as fit as I used to be but I figured getting a bike that would offer some assistance may help my get back to a good level of fitness I was at when I used to play football twice weekly.

The journey is roughly 20 miles there and back, I was planning on getting a mid drive as I believe the torque is good and they are suitable for hills, I cannot afford the £3000 or so for a good one, so i was looking at a second hand bike. The problem is I have seen a lot of bikes online not more than a year old that have had motors replaced under warranty in descriptions and I am worried that there is a problem with mid drive bikes. What do people find the running costs and reliability of these bikes are and is it really worth buying one just for commuting, although I would definitely use it locally for fun.

What would you advised I buy for fun and mainly commuting.
