Browsei g at BMS battery I stubbled upon those beauties..48V10Ah Li-Ion Shrink Tube EBike Battery Pack - BMSBATTERY

So what is the catch compered to the lipo batteries? I mean, those are super light(2,8 kg) super small (66x168x158mm) super cheap and with a decent 800cycles life..

I am not a battery expert for sure so I am eager to here the thoughts of the specialists in this forum.. Judging from the size those might fit to the frog PVC case They sell, I can't tell because there are no additional info at ANY of their cases(major mistake, but it might also mean that they can build them in any(?) dimensions)

I am currently looking on a ezee conversion made by ably as many you might already know, and ezee 48v lipo 10ah battery is currently unavailable, so This might be an affordable solution..

I have the 24V version and it is great. I reviewed it here: http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/electric-bicycles/7984-99-battery.html

I do not believe the quoted weight though. I think it would weigh around 3.0 kg as it has 26 cells as opposed to the 14 in mine. I will give an update report soon, but I can say that so far it has given me no problems whatsoever. Voltage drop under load on my bike is a maximum 1.1V. I have drawn 22A from it as well, though I cannot say for how long as my cheap watt meter does not tell me that. This would be complicated on my bike though as the power is drawn with each pedal thrust. I am not sure what the real capacity is, but I have taken 7Ah from mine, with the voltage still above 24V. I keep the battery in a padded camera bag which then goes inside a pannier.

I have a cheaper charger than the one that comes with the 48V battery, but it is fine and completely silent, which I appreciate.

I live in Denmark and our tax people are very switched on.

They ALWAYS clobber me for tax for things from the USA but I have never had to pay tax on goods from, China, Japan, Thailand etc.

I just get them to write sample on the box to try and wangle it through customs.

That's my experience here in the UK. Except that I think they got me for Japanese stuff. I'll include Hong Kong as duty free.

Has anybody had to pay any from China yet? I've never heard of any!
Here in Ireland, the Customs catch the larger items, so a hub/wheel combo caught their attentions. A bit of a buggre on top of the shipping cost, but all in, it was still acceptable. Small items from HK/Taiwan/China don't get noticed, but I've a feeling they will be out to collect as much as possible on the larger items now.

The catch the way I see it now is the lack of case that can hold them and on/ off switch with key...

Hi d8veh,

I get billed for Customs Duty and Vat every time I buy from China or outside the EU, although some low value items are exempt.
If you fortunate enough not to be billed, I would advise not shouting to loudly about it;)

Here is a link to duty calculator you may find useful so that at least you are forewarned about what you might have to pay Are there minimum thresholds below which import taxes are waived? - DutyCalculator Help Center

It seems like it is correct! This is the answer he gave me:
Hi,

Thank you! The dimension and weight is correct.
