You can find them on Aliexpress. Search for thin or narrow silver fish battery.

I've tried Aliexpress, what is wrong with that site. I can't get it to work at all. Saneagle probably knows better than me, but over the years I've looked online for Volt batteries and could never find any. Yes very similar ones but not Volt. My bike is a pulse x using much the same battery as your metro.
If I could work the Aliexpress website then I might find a Volt battery but I can't even do a search on their page.

You won't find "Volt" batteries. The ones on AliExpress are generic unbranded ones and about 1/3 the price.

Are they the right ones . I know the Volt Metro battery is slightly different to my Pulse x . In height not width. The batteries I've only ever seen online are are wider than the Volt ones . Which are Panosonic .

Just pay attention to the components that connect the battery to your bike to ensure they match. If your bike has a custom connector, generic baseplates/connectors are available too just google 'silverfish base plate'

Finding a generic battery pack like a silverfish or hailong on a bike that needs only a new battery is a thumbs up result.. :)
Significantly less dicking about...

I have to assume then that these batteries are the same width as mine. All the ones I've ever seen are larger. On my bike and I'm going to again assume the frame on a Volt metro is much the same as mine when it come to the battery housing. Then anything over 80mm will not fit. The frame will not allow it and it's nothing to do with the battery housing.

I've just checked and I found the Aliexpress plus others. The measurements are 110mm by 75mm . Volt batteries are 80mm sqaure. I was hoping these batteries might work, but no they won't.

Last time I looked for a previous thread, there were some of the narrow ones. I think there might be some links if you can find it. When I check today, I don't see the narrow ones. You'll have to search hard and use creative search criteria. I often have better success searching AliExpress with Google rather than their own search.

You can use Google to do its own search for narrow silver fish batteries. Immediately, it finds some the same as the Volt ones in Australia. Again, creative search criteria might find what you want.

It was Google that showed me aliexpress and as you found they don't have the battery. I'm not looking for a battery. in as much as I gave up looking quite a time ago when I couldn't find them. I hope the original poster going to Canada manages to find what he needs. It certainly leaves room for thought as to what happens to your bike when moving abroad.

hmm so they came back w this
“The problem is that any "36V / 504Wh" battery won't just work on the bike as our batteries are all fitted with our own Battery Management Systems.”

If your battery has only two wires connecting it to the controller, there is no way that the bike can detect whether you have a different battery or not. The BMS in a two wire battery manages the battery and has no way of communicating with the rest of the bike, nor can the bike communicate with it.

Can you not post it yourself. I doubt you can, but I'm asking if it's possible. Though I'm sure it's not, can it be shipped. Of course it'll cost a pretty penny or two. When you say they, are you referring to Volt. They don't have the batteries in stock as it happens.

I have the Pulse X, the original version which has been replaced with an in frame battery version. Alas I think my future cycling on my Pulse is not going to be long.

I feel for you mate, perhaps it's time to sell the Metro and buy something in Canada. No it's not ideal, one things for sure ebikes have limited life span. When compared to the penny farthing.

The number of pins doesn't matter. In most cases only the outer two pins are connected. You have to look at the controller to see how many wires are connected to the battery, or you can look at the other side of the battery connectors either on the battery or the bike to see how many wires are soldered to them. If it's only two wires, you can fit any 36v battery you want, like a rack battery or a downtube one.

Finally, if you have multiple wires soldered to the battery connector, you can chuck the controller and buy a nice standard Chinese one with an LCD, which gives you the possibility to go up to 48v for 30% more power. If you change to a standard rack or downtube battery, you won't have to worry about replacement batteries in the future.

Maybe you're looking for the wrong battery? According to Volt's website, it seems to be a silver-fish type that's modified - they call it a "Spintech B1".

This AliExpress one ships to Canada and the maker says it has an "AI chip" (smart BMS?) specifically, it's a "B1 Spintech 2016-2022 Volt Battery B1". It too is only 80mm wide. 36v x 15Ah = 540Wh. Free shipping to Canada, 90 day returns.

Isn't this what you're looking for?
