    Woosh C70 Brompton conversion

Swapped the 15T sprocket for the original 13T and swapped back to the original Brompton crank with 44T chainwheel. So it's back to bog standard B75 spec. Rides much better now. I can cruise steadily on the flat at 10-12 mph in 2nd gear with a reasonably high cadence. I realise this would be too...

    Woosh C70 Brompton conversion

Just received and installed my Brompton kit from Woosh today for my B75. Before I go any further I want to stress that I bought a kit from them without battery. This was because I wanted to use my existing 17AH HL battery I got in a kit from them over two years ago for my Cube MTB conversion...

What's the latest with Brompton kits?

Oh no this was not a criticism. Nothing to be sorry about. I admit I'm being a bit impatient. I'd not really looked much further than when we spoke in February, so wondered if anything else had appeared people might know about. At least you're still taking delivery of items. I thought you (and...

What's the latest with Brompton kits?

Bought a Brompton B75 just before Christmas with the aim of fitting a kit to it. But of course the virus situation has put paid to that somewhat. Just wondered if there were any available kits out there that can be bought now? I've got a bit sick of waiting actually. I know Woosh have a kit...

    Woosh - thumbs up?

To be honest the discounts never apply to sale items or in conjunction with other offers as far as I know. I just used a British Cycling 10% discount on a Brompton but could only get the 10% off at Halfords. Bromptons are the only bikes exempt from this at Cycle Republic. Anyway... I've found...

Risk of getting your bike stolen in London?

I will say that in my time at Leeds uni I've parked my bike all over the campus. It's very rare to see a gold secure lock. Many use D-locks but cheap ones. And just as many use crappy cable locks. But to be fair the bikes aren't decent quality either (vast majority). Where I usually park my...

Risk of getting your bike stolen in London?

I've been locking my eBike up outside Leeds university for over two years with no issues. There's always people around throughout the day where I lock it. I use a quality Kryptonite D-lock through the frame and rear wheel and a smaller green ABUS D-lock through the front wheel (as it's quick...

Brompton conversion... would this Whoosh kit work?

Hmmm... that got a bit feisty in my absence :( Anyway... I took delivery of my lovely B75 yesterday. For now I've changed the chainring to a 39t to lower the gearing as there are a couple of hills nearby that I regularly need to climb. But as far as an electric kit goes am I better off with the...

Brompton conversion... would this Whoosh kit work?

The Swytch doesn't mount on luggage block does it? I saw it up on the handlebar. Using the luggage block does make sense in that it keeps the weight low down and all Brompton users can do that easily. But I think that the best system would be to integrate the battery in the base of a bag that...

Case studies - how has your electric bike changed your life?

I'd be an unmitigated on the road with a trailer. I can't even get through those bike bars at parks etc. first time without the panniers getting caught. :P

Case studies - how has your electric bike changed your life?

I would say it hasn't, really. But when you consider I've been a taxi driver for 20 years and just 2 months ago quit and now don't even have a daily car... that speaks volumes. I haven't missed it one jot. A few years ago I felt like I'd lost an arm if I didn't have use of a car. I do have a...

Brompton conversion... would this Whoosh kit work?

Is the motor the AKM-75 or the Q70? Does it fit the forks without spreading or grinding dropouts? Would I need torque arms? Does the cradle come with those little curved plastic mounts/fittings to help fixing to a round bar? Not fussed about a throttle (nowhere to put one on M bar anyway). End...

Brompton conversion... would this Whoosh kit work?

That's an estimate of your kit cost? Sounds reasonable to me. I'd need another LCD and carrier/cradle so the mtb can still be used. What about the crank sensor?

Brompton conversion... would this Whoosh kit work?

Yeah that kit looks cool but as you say, for me to use my HL battery the cradle will need to be mounted on the inside of the front stem. Plus I really don't want to lose the functionality of the front luggage block. Mounting the cradle on the stem isn't going to look elegant but it should work...

Brompton conversion... would this Whoosh kit work?

Had a go at looking at parts to make up a kit. Took a while and I have no idea if this would work. :p I like the waterproof connectors as they take the soldering out of the equation, However, some of the extension cables look a bit strange to me with ends missing. If I had the battery cradle in...

Brompton conversion... would this Whoosh kit work?

This all looks good apart from the fact that I have a 36V battery already and all this is 24V. Is that OK to do? Plus the motor doesn't fit in the forks unless they are spread a bit. Just searching around and I see the Q70 motor. Fits right in and is already 36V. Dunno how suitable it is...

Brompton conversion... would this Whoosh kit work?

It is an HL down tube battery. I remember when I bought the kit I said I wanted the largest capacity available. I get around 45 miles from full charge but that is on level 4 (out of 5). I only charge it once a week which suits me. I think I'll wait a bit till the kit is released and get used the...

Brompton conversion... would this Whoosh kit work?

That sounds cool. But would I be able to use my existing HL battery from that BPM kit? I appreciate you might not be able to give full details right now.

Brompton conversion... would this Whoosh kit work?

No I don't have the wheel. Nano is the only kit I knew for the Brompton (apart from the official build of course). I've been in touch with them and they told me I can buy the wheel on its own. The kit is £520 to buy with no battery/charger which I think is a lot considering I paid £600 for my...

Brompton conversion... would this Whoosh kit work?

Yeah, this is what I was thinking. I suppose you're right, I may as well get a kit for the Brompton and share the battery across bikes. But I have no idea what to get as I'm a n00b at this stuff. I can put things together and "engineer" a fit but my knowledge of ebike parts is very poor. I don't...
