Brompton conversion... would this Whoosh kit work?

I currently have a Whoosh BPM 350W kit fitted to a mountain bike. I'm thinking of swapping it over to a Brompton using a Nano electric 250W front wheel. For now I just want to establish if this is possible, forget about fitting and foldability. This is just an idea. I don't know much about the...

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

The Crossfire-E is just not fit for purpose. Mine cut out twice in the first forntight so it went back to Cycle Republic for a refund. They didn't quibble at all but I was prepared for it. Once they get to fix it a bit then it gets past the refund status and they just want to fix it under...

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

I test rode the Crossfuse recently from Halfords. I wasn't overly impressed. Nice bike and all but no real feel of getting assistance. Maybe that's the point of the hub driven motors, but it wasn't for me. £1600 list price is an awful lot too. I think for up to that money people would be better...

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

I never tried using the power button on the battery. But I did try removing and reinstalling the battery itself. And that made no difference.

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

Yes they do have hydraulic brakes... I stand corrected. The cutouts wouldn't be too bad if you could just switch the system on again. But for me I had to push/nurse the bike home and leave overnight before it would switch back on. It was like some overheating/safety feature had kicked in. I...

    Fat guy drama...

I can vouch for the BPM rear kit. Just fitted a 700c kit to a Cube mountain bike. I'm 6'2" and weigh 95kgs. I find level 3 assist a significant boost from a standstill. Level 2 on the flat will increase range a lot. Even level 1 is useful to go slowly (under 6mph) in a crowded area with...

    BPM power surges

I think I may need to use level 2 more. I just love the push off feel level 3 gives from a standstill. :P I would like to reiterate that this is not a major problem I am having. I wouldn't want to put anyone off trying a kit. I suppose I'm being picky in wanting perfectly smooth transition all...

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

I bought a Crossfire E from Cycle Republic last year and had the cut out problem twice in the first two weeks. Took it back and got full refund, and to be fair to CR they didn't quibble. Was a shame as I reallly liked the bike when it worked OK. Loved the colour scheme too. Since then I...

    BPM power surges

Unplugged the throttle cable today and went on a few miles ride. At level 3 assist it did it again exactly same as before for duration and power. So I plugged cable back in and changed to level 2 assist. Didn't really enjoy this so switched to level 4. It did it again but for only a second and...

    Which Bafang kit?

I now have a fitted and working PAS and done around 100 miles so far. I've found I use assist level 3 nearly all of the time. I cannot even tell that 1 is working (I'm sure it is though) and I can just about feel level 2. Level 3 is a real boost though. I can really feel the push as I set off...

    BPM power surges

Got my kit all installed and sorted with pedal assist working. Really happy with how it works and rides. I have 5 assist levels and have found that level 1 seems like it's not there. It's probably very faint and my 95kgs might be a defining variable. Level 2 is just about discernible. Level 3 is...

Will type approved speed pedelecs wake the police up

Absolutely pointless getting an ebike that needs registering and insurance. Look at all the freedom you lose... can't go in parks or on canal towpaths or use any cycles lanes. You must wear a helmet and to top it off you can get done for speeding and get points on your licence.... on a push...

    Problem with PAS sensor

I did give my invoice no. on all correspondence so you could see what I had been sent. Anyway, Andy has responded by email as well. I won't plug anything in. Please come back to me by email to tell me exactly what you want sending back. Andy did say he was sending a 20A max controller to give...

    Problem with PAS sensor

I edited my OP while you were typing :p Yes I could... but will the wires colours match? And if colours match will they go to matching pins? I don't want to damage anything. And once I've spliced these cables I can't exactly send anything back.

    Problem with PAS sensor

Bought a BPM kit for my Giant Escape. Going to the lake district tomorrow and was hoping to have the bike ready for then. It does run on throttle but this PAS has given me a headache. Original PAS was a little round left hand side mounting unit with a small ring of magnets. This didn't fit the...

    Which Bafang kit?

I'm thinking of swapping out my front derailleur for a single cog so I can just use 1-8 gears. Depends how it rides once I get my sensor fitted. If I'm using the top 4 gears of the middle front cog and the bottom 4 of the largest front cog then I'd look into it. Does this sort of thing occur much?

    Which Bafang kit?

It's a 350W BPM motor. I suppose ebike kits are like cars or whatever. You get some power and always want a bit more. For now I'm quite happy to be able to get up normal road hills with little effort (not very steep off road inclines). I think my bike will be much improved once I get the...

    BPM rear hub squeaking

OK I've done a video of it with chain on spinning wheel by hand. Very difficult to do with chain off and spinning while recording. (Unless there's an easy way as I'm not a bike expert). I can assure you with chain off it's no different. Thanks for your help and I'll send the video now. :)

    BPM rear hub squeaking

Yep, chain off, squeaks with power on or spinning by hand. Only squeaks in forward direction though.

    BPM rear hub squeaking

It's not the brakes. If I lift the back end of the bike and slowly move the wheel forward by hand it squeaks all the time. If I give it a bit of a spin by and it spins freely though. No apparent drag or binding. But squeaks constantly as it does.
