    Brexit, for once some facts.

It is ludicrous as a way of taking CO2 out of the atmosphere. It isn't ludicrous as a part of a whole continuing cycle fully thought through and carefully implemented.

I will almost never say a fungus is safe to eat. Partly because identification isn't easy and especially so online. (And I know enough to know I am no expert.) But also as in this passage: From tree stumps or buried wood of broadleaf trees, Coprinus micaceus, formerly known as the Mica Inkcap...

CO2 is a by-product of making fertilisers, isn't it? That's why there have been CO2 shortages when fertiliser plants are not operating. Many building materials emit a load of CO2 during manufacture. Cement and the classic, lime, for sure. And fizzy drinks only hold the CO2 in the bottles/cans...

Managing to incorporate a large proportion of the carbon dioxide is going to be difficult. I know higher carbon dioxide levels can result in higher growth rate. But what percentage can be incorporated without significant loss to the atmosphere (e.g. simply due to greenhouses which leak)? And...

Inject it in the soil - and then what happens? Freeze it - and then what happens? I know some inejct-into-rock approaches exploit an inherent possibility of chemical combining. But anything else could end up just being a long-winded way of slightly deferring release. Shove down an oil well -...

A few issues. Just what do you do with the carbon dioxide that is ejected? A major issue with ICE is handling of oxides of nitrogen - not just carbon dioxide. And imperfectly burned fuel, lubricant, etc.

I hate the Mail: 'My biggest fight wasn't with Covid - it was against grandstanding Matt Hancock and the exasperating 'Blob'': Head of UK's vaccine taskforce KATE BINGHAM reveals the struggles and painful bureaucracy behind Britain's world-beating jab programme In June 2020, Kate Bingham faced...

Why 70? Seems they have 356 at present. Take Truss herself out of the number counted making 355. So 70 appears to be 1 under one fifth. (They had 357 until Friday!)

Ironic that the headlines are about someone else being a sadist! Politics live: Cabinet minister faces questions as Tories told to rally behind Truss - and Gove labelled a 'sadist' https://news.sky.com/story/politics-news-live-liz-truss-tory-conference-speech-12593360?postid=4622110 Haven't...

I spent years in a city from which many travelled to London. And many travelled to that city from further away. Many by train, but an awful lot at least partly by car. The traffic jam round the station caused by (typically) wives coming to pick up hubbies was crazy. Never did understand how we...

I drive both a hybrid (not plug-in) and a standard ICE. Ironically, I get similar mpg a lot of the time. But the hybrid really is much better round town. Whereas the ICE is significantly better on motorway journeys. By swapping with some thought, I think I do the best I can. I did consider a...

Most of the time, I be perfectly happy with about a 30 mile radius of driving. With just the odd foray further afield. I'd like there to be a way of buying a relatively inexpensive, shorter-range EV, but being able to increase range, or swap vehicle, easily, quickly and at a reasonable price...

One of the many pieces of advice I'd give is never to make claims like that. Even if the claim itself seemed rock solid, the making of it will encourage those who wish to destroy it. I can imagine that someone might have been holding back, worried in case they failed or something, actually...

It was obviously a very significant target. But there is lots we don't know. Like how many times previously they might have tried. And just what it was that enabled them to succeed this time. For example, were some guards deliberately not properly inspecting the wagons when the train was...
