Dual Power E-Bike Hi I am a New Member looking to by a legal e-bike

Firstly, welcome to the site Paul. Secondly, why dual power and not just a high torque, legal, single motor?

When are they going to stop amateurs driving supercars?

I swear I saw the skid marked undies he wore in the latest incident on eBay. Was up to £30,000 with 3 days to go!

    Discontinued Battery

You could drop Jimmy at http://www.bga-reworking.co.uk a line, as he may be able to recell your existing battery pack.

2 x MAC motor spare spokes (26" wheel), free to anyone who wants them

Yep, thanks for pointing that out Dave. 190mm length from bend in spoke at hub end - end of nipple thread.

    Geared hub kit drag

If you ever open up the final drive cover of a BBSxx, then you will see why this unit has some drag. When the pedals are rotating forwards, the large cog is still turning the smaller cog. Even though there is a one way bearing, which prevents the motor from turning also, grease and cog friction...

2 x MAC motor spare spokes (26" wheel), free to anyone who wants them

Sorting out my boxes of bike bits, I came across 2 brand new replacement MAC motor spokes. I bought a handful of spare spokes, as I had numerous breakages when I ran a bike fitted with a MAC 10T. They have the nipples on the end too. If any MAC motor users are breaking spokes like I did, then...

Don't assume your chain and cassette are worn if the chain skips!

I agree Kinninvie, although I personally use Finish Line dry teflon lube. I think the days of using a few drops of 3 in 1 oil are over, and modern drivetrains require these better lubricants.

Don't assume your chain and cassette are worn if the chain skips!

Just an update to my post #1. Where I mention that it's best done with the rear wheel elevated, of course all you lucky peeps with hub motors, can just rotate the pedals backwards to spin the cassette. Us BBSxx owners on the other hand :(

Don't assume your chain and cassette are worn if the chain skips!

If your chain is skipping cogs on the cassette, usually in the highest gear, then don't always assume that a worn chain and cassette is the issue. I usually find that when my chain starts skipping on the 11T cog, it's a dirt build up between the 11T and next cog that causes the issue. Compacted...

    Geared hub kit drag

You might be able to offset the peceived drag, by reprogramming the 'Keep Current' in the controller settings. You will need a programming cable, software and laptop/pc. This shouldn't technically change the legality of your bike, but will help with assistance at the 15.5mph cut-off level.

    Geared hub kit drag

The way I see it, is that whilst, yes, hub motors and mid drives do have some extra resistance pedalling unpowered. If you are always riding a bike with assistance, then unpowered feels horribly treacle like. This is probably due to the fact, that the muscles that are normally used in the...

    Lithium battery safety

Tell security that the battery on your bike, is no less safe than the battery in the iPhones or walkie talkies they have in their pockets.

    Seat Problem

After Googling the Pro Rider, it looks to have quite a high/chunky seat. You could take measurements of the height of your current seat, and pop into Halfords to see if you could replace it with one that has a lower profile. A good quality seat can have a lower profile, whilst still being...

    Battery charging problem

I would dip a cotton bud in isopropyl alcohol, or spray some contact cleaner on it, then give the charger output connector and battery input connector a good clean. Sometimes, there can be a tiny spark that occurs every time you connect the charger, and this over time can tarnish the contacts.
