Disconnect battery before turning bike off questions

Do try to remember to switch off the bike before you remove the battery, but I wouldn't worry too much if you don't. I highly doubt you'll damage anything. I've done it loads of times on mine ;)

Thank Bafang for their BBSxx display error codes :)

After my little maintenance job on a noisy rear brake (highlighted in another thread), I went on a little jolly to test them out. Half a mile down the road, the motor cut out. The display battery symbol was flashing and it was showing error code 08. Did the usual quick diagnosis, by...

Regular use of brake cleaner on organic brake pads?

Anyone know if regular use of brake cleaner on organic brake pads is bad for them? I believe they are also called resin pads, so wondering if the cleaner affects the resin. I'm referring to the isopropyl alcohol type cleaners.

Hydraulic disc brake noise... sorted :)

For a while, I've had a noise emanating from my rear brake, caused by one, or both of the pads touching the rotor at certain points. Being the cheapest hydraulic system from Tektro, the HD-M300, I kinda lived with it, as I just put it down to manufacturer cheapness. I dialled out most of the...

Pedal assist double hall sensor is intermittent

If you don't want to go to the expense of a torque wrench, then just use a hex key and hand power. That way you won't over tighten it, as your hand will hurt before that happens.

Pedal assist double hall sensor is intermittent

Someone else can hopefully chip in on this, but I think the PAS sensor receiver is attached to the bottom bracket and doesn't move. The sensor disc is attached to the spindle and rotates as the pedal is turned. If the sensor disc isn't close enough to the receiver, then it will either provide an...

Pedal assist double hall sensor is intermittent

Only way of reliably torquing the bolt would be to use a torque wrench. Most people probably just use guesstimation when tightening, but I swear by one when tightening key bolts, such as the crank arm. It prevents smaller bolts from getting snapped off and helps stop bolts loosening over time...

Make sure you have the correct tools!

The good thing with the Marathons is that they have fairly stiff sidewalls, so you can run them at lower pressures to aid comfort and grip. I run mine at 35psi.

UK legal rear hub 48 volt kit?

Mmmmm, I'm just wondering if the controller in the listing just lowers the current to the motor in 250w mode, and naturally tops out at 16mph. If I'm correct, the law requires it to cut off the power totally at that speed (well 15.5mph)

UK legal rear hub 48 volt kit?

How about if I pull the switching wire cable inside the controller casing and leave it connected inside the sealed casing? Then it's not easily switchable on the fly by the rider. Not worried about the efficiency!
