UK legal rear hub 48 volt kit?

So, the one in the listing, which doesn't have a LCD display, would have already been pre-programmed for a 26" wheel?

UK legal rear hub 48 volt kit?

Right, I understand that hub motor has the function to send a signal to the controller to set the speed, but I still can't get my head around how it knows how fast the actual bike is going depending on the wheel size. Is each controller programmed for one wheel size only? I'm only talking about...

UK legal rear hub 48 volt kit?

And a technical question about the kit in post #19. I can't see any speed sensor, so how does the controller know what speed the wheel is going, to cut off the power at the legal speed?

UK legal rear hub 48 volt kit?

So, assuming that the motor is marked as 250w, as stated in EAPC rules below, can anyone see any reason why this kit won't be suitable for my needs? I have sent a message to the vendor to ask what markings are on the motor. Electric Bicycle E Bike Motor Conversion Kit 26" Rear Wheel EAPC...

UK legal rear hub 48 volt kit?

Can someone just clarify that throttles are definitely out on any legal kit fitted to a bike please?

Carrera Crossfire E - first cut out (Sport Mode)

http://www.halfords.com/cycling/bikes/electric-bikes/carrera-crossfire-e-mens-electric-bike The technical jargon suggests the Climb Sport 100% mode is for riding up hills at speed. I reckon it'll live up to the name with a fresh battery, but will struggle to provide the amps the controller...

Carrera Crossfire E - first cut out (Sport Mode)

I'll be honest and say that I doubt that the Crossfire-E battery pack contains high spec cells. I would guess that they are generic Chinese cells, so probably more prone to battery sag, than the likes of Samsung 30Q's. With a half empty battery pack, I would expect the voltage to drop quite a...

Carrera Crossfire E - first cut out (Sport Mode)

If this happened when the battery was nearing empty, then the battery may have dipped below the battery cut-off voltage in sport mode. This would cut the power until reset. It's just one of those things with some set-ups, and as you discovered, reducing the assistance mode helps. If this is...

UK legal rear hub 48 volt kit?

I know that the voltage doesn't come into the legality issue and a 250w motor will tick the right box too. It's controlling the cut-off that'll be an issue. Do you know any 48v controllers that are top speed programmable through the display?

UK legal rear hub 48 volt kit?

If anyone can link me to a UK legal rear hub motor kit, that runs at 48v, you'll be my hero. Preferably no throttle, only PAS. Wheel size 20" and upwards.

    Bafang bbshd

Whilst we're on the subject of the BBSHD, do all the BBS02 components work with a BBSHD? In other words, could I just buy a BBSHD motor and drop it in place of my BBS02?

    Removing motor assembly from BBS02?

Update on this. I took the four screws out of the motor side and very gently wiggled the motor unit away from the main housing. The gap was enough that I could just see that the phase wires were a little taught in there. Therefore, I opened up the controller side and pushed the phase wires...

    Partial strip down/service on BBS02

Just an update, the NLGI-3 grease has quietened the final drive to a nice level again. The NGLI-3 grease has a consistency of peanut butter, whereas the previous NLGI-2 grease was like margarine.

    Removing motor assembly from BBS02?

When you take the four screws out of the motor side of the BBS02, are the phase wires long enough to allow the unit to be pulled out enough for access to the nylon gear?. Just for a visual check and to pop a little more grease in there.

Yes, I was wondering whether a battery pack would be classed as part of equipment. I'm gonna contact them anyway and clarify.

Sending lithium battery packs via courier

I may be after shipping a lithium ion battery pack to another UK address. Thank you to another forum member who suggested two companies who would do this, but unfortunately it appears that you need to be a registered business to use them. Then I spotted this...

Bafang mid drive double chain ring help

I reckon you could use the existing mechanism. Just adjust the cage stops to prevent the chain from derailing, if you accidently select the non existent third chainring on the shifter.
