    Cycling Rates in Europe

I've started to see more bikes and even more electric bikes on my commute now. Couple of meake shift ones too. Its definetly on the rise.

    You vs the average cyclist

I'm actually slightly quicker on a non powered bike it's took time to get get to that level but I'm now the slightly quicker. But im putting alot more effort into it. Also if there's any head wind it definitely slows me down. But it really is the effort and fortunately there are only a few...

    Is this project sheer lunacy?!

I'd just get a 250 watt bafang kit and run a slightly slower wind but then get a larger controller maybe a 30amp max. After all torque increases with amps in a linear fashion. Either way even a small kit with a small controller can kick out as much as the average rider. I think you'll be...

Battery - Sunlova - For Reference

There quite a bit larger than the as batteries. Using the reference on the PDF they are 18650. Which relates to their physical size of being 18mm radius by 65mm

Battery - Sunlova - For Reference

Hello All, As I am off today on friday about to go to London for a wedding I thought I would take the oppertunity to open up the Sunlova battery. You do need some tamperproof tools though with the triangle head's. These I brought on Amazon or £10 for a set of 4. Anyway as I have been monkeying...

Juicy bikes kit/Bafang 350/500 watt motor, faster than 250?

Motor will be compatible with disks. Least all modern motors have the disk option built with them. If you buy the motor only they yes you would need to get it spoked in. Unless it comes pre built. In which case it would be a 5 min job

Juicy bikes kit/Bafang 350/500 watt motor, faster than 250?

You won't get much more of an honest and better offer as the above. Least not uk based. Decisions yours though but that's going to be the fastest cheapest method to get more speed. You will loose torque but it would be a straight 5 min swap! No connection swaps and if your not happy then you...

Juicy bikes kit/Bafang 350/500 watt motor, faster than 250?

Please beaware electric bikes and kits are addictive. Annoyingly so. That's why I stopped for a little while! If it's just speed your after I would seriously consider a higher wind motor. Maybe juicy bikes could offer you a faster rpm wind motor. Is one that's for a 16inch wheel. That way at...

Juicy bikes kit/Bafang 350/500 watt motor, faster than 250?

to be honest when its come down to leads and things as I no longer drive I've had to source alot locally. Which isn't to bad given that I will in Birmingham city center and there is a Maplin's 20 min walk away. (Which is also opposite an evans cycle shop which is handy too). I've ended up...

Juicy bikes kit/Bafang 350/500 watt motor, faster than 250?

http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/electric-bicycles/8240-bpm-kit-build-thread.html Theres a link you may find interesting. I did a similar thing by getting a 350w rear motor with a 20mph @ 36v nominal - increasing the controller size and then keepnig the same battery. I'm probably pushing...

Juicy bikes kit/Bafang 350/500 watt motor, faster than 250?

Sorry I wasn't telling you to sod off. I was jsut saying for the question you primarly asked forget the effciency loss. Its niot applicable when building your own ebike as a majority of motors will all have similar losses. Trying to improve the effciency is much harder than just say increasing...

Juicy bikes kit/Bafang 350/500 watt motor, faster than 250?

Well sod off effciency etc there are ways to go faster :- Keeping the same Motor + Battery Buy a larger amp controller - This will increase Torque. More amps more torque. The limiting factor will be the battery and eventually the brushless motor will burn out with heat. But you'll maintain a...

    LifePo4 battery usage

Please note the shrink wrap versions dont come with a charger. An to buyone in the uk is quite pricey! RC LIPO can work fine for small robust packs. Its just you need more care when charging and discharging them as you do not have a BMS doing all its wonderful trickery...

    LifePo4 battery usage

A123 have the flexibility of having a huge C rating though allowing you to have the flexibility to have a small pack and draw alot of amps from it. Good though its now what I'm looking into and LIPO for smaller light battery packs. Most of the companies offering Lifepo4 tend to be cheaper...

Cyclist deaths on roads rose by 7% last year

Yeah it would be good to see if there was a similar uplift in Cyclists in the same period. 7% wouldnt be so bad if there was say an uplift of 40% more people cycling. This would mean that cycling would have become safer.

    Cycle analyst anyone?

There a good bit of kit but they are pricey, espcially if your just after casual monitoring. You really need to use all the features to make it a worthwhile purchase. Otherwise something like a Turnigy Watts Up Meter or other brand would be a better option.

Are sellers taking over this forum?

Sometimes its annoying. But then you dont have to read it or scroll to the next post. Its hardly a hardship. Its not like any of them ram products at you. It only annoys me when someone asks a question not about a product and then an advertiser jumps in, or when its completly off topic.

    RC Lipo Query

I ended up reading alot on a few rc forums and it doesn't sound that bad. It's not as straight forward as buying a battery but the flexibility sounds exactly what I want. As I've figured I won't stop tinkering withthe bike but really want light weight packs. I never use past 4 amps in...

    RC Lipo Query

I'm hoping a few of you will be able to help with this. I'm contenplating using LIPO as a backup battery now that my 36v Battery is backup and running. As I never use over 3amp's on any one journey on my commute I've been thinking of buying two 6S 5000mah lipo bricks (22v each). Placing...
