    old BATT.

I want to help on this but I don't understand what you've said. Even if the battery is older it may be worth salvaging as even if its at 70% its capacity you can still get a good 10 miles out of it or even use it as a backup battery. The lock bit also screws of on the carrier. Not exactly...

    My Bike

I ride faster on the flat and down hill than with an electric bike. I think there are greater risks to consider. Anyway nice build and the battery should last for years. Although a 30amp controller with a 10amp hr lifepo4 battery is probably pushing the C rating. I don't know many lifepo4...

    Going going almost gone :-((

Teenagers that do that are morons anyway with the exhausts. None of them think a reason why a 2-stroke has an expansion chamber is to change the back pressure to keep as much fuel in the cylinder as possible. Usually they make it louder and it goes alot slower with increased mpg. Electric...

    Going going almost gone :-((

I also stopped using electric. However there are some days (Well some hills) where I really couldn't be bothered to power up on my own accord. Commuting its still great though and it does massivly increase your range. Now I'f I'm lazy I end up just downgearing and romping up the hill slowly...

    Overcharging/overdischarging li-ion battery

As others have said as long as there's a decent BMS all in the battery then it really is as simple as plug and play. Or charge and leave. Unless leaving for a long period of time... Much better than Nicad or Nihm though!

    How often/cost for general servicing?

As long as there not monkeying about with the electrics they they should service it. After all the majority of the bicycle is still a bike. 25 looks like the going rate. Evans an Halfords will be more pricey!

    How often/cost for general servicing?

I'm forever tweaking parts of the bike. Probably every month I give it a bit of an over haul and re tune the wheels. At least once a week I lube the chain and moving parts with fenwick lubes. More if it's been raining. Most bike get serviced twice a year or One large tune up. Evans and places...

Without power assist I would be out of the saddle bobbing about and out of breath

Sorry to hear about the knee. It would be good to get a comparison against the mac and bpm. A123 cells are monsters for discharge which would allow you to run even higher amperage. But I'd imagine it's already pretty nippy up the hills regardless. Sounds like your getting alot of fun out of it...

Without power assist I would be out of the saddle bobbing about and out of breath

Good stuff. The bpm does perform very well at hill climbs for a hub motor! What battery and controller amp are you running ? Good figures anyway And glad your enjoying the build

    Unassisted Riding

Indeed the getting up to speed is where the heart ache is. I Must admit using an actual light weight bike. Thin tires etc means once your up to speed maintaining it even up a small gradient is easy enough. Hills are another matter but I like both and have been riding a normal bike without...

    Unassisted Riding

A nice read there Barrycol. There's to many factors to negotiate why your other half pulled away from you. One that immediately jumps outs is that potentially she is smaller than you in stature so would have less wind drag. The motors hub will always have some drag. Even when not...

    Unassisted Riding

It's good but I still have to give my legs some down time because doing it most days literally turns my legs into jelly. However now I've created a back Pack system it's easy to switch from electric to unassisted. Still love the electric bike though makes life easier after an evil day at the...

    Dual motor

Very possible to create a two wheel version However depending on the winds it will only help acceleration and traction. If you have two hub motors they would need to be of the same wind. If they are not the higher speed wind would be fighting the lower speed wind. Unless you have a cut off from...

    Need help.

You can get an assosrtment of washers from most local auto parts shops. If your that strapped you could use a 2 pence piece and drill it... Maplins also have washers in various sizes although you may have to drill these out (Which is what I did). As far as chargers go there should be a...

    Backpack Battery quick release connectors

Evening all, Used a few of the links you all suggested and finished soldering and adding quick release connections. Also brought 15meters of 10amp wire to extend the connections from the back pack. Neatened and cut all the wires and added power pole connectors. All good and connects quickly...

    Triangle screw driver

Hello all, I appear to be asking a load of questions lately. My charger has decided to stop working but I don't believe the problem is the charger itself. I used the multimeter and it's charging as usual. I think something's gone in the battery. Reason being the battery can discharge but...

    Backpack Battery quick release connectors

Used it this morning and had to extend the straps on my backpack so it would sit lower. This is becasue the phase wires really are not long enough to be comfortable. I really cannot stand up either to pedal and the wires are kind of all over the place. However the extra weight is by the by...

    BPM Wheel Failure

Feels really nice too. Not as perfect as my non powered standard hub. But the wheel is double walled and heavy as standard. I did manage to bend one spoke while putting them all in. However its all holding up well so far. I also feel that now I've removed the rack and battery of the rear of...

    Backpack Battery quick release connectors

Ok I managed to create a back pack with a battery that sits in the bottom a controller that's in one of he rear pockets. I've hard wired it currently to see how I get on with it tomorrow since I finished my wheel. It looks as though I'll have to extend the phase wires to make it ok to move...
