    Help! My next project

Thanks Nealh, those are the lines I'm starting to think down. At the moment operation is erratic. This morning I went to the next village shopping, about a 4 mile round trip. It let me down badly crossing a main road at an offset cross. Approach to junction is downhill so no assist. Exit is...

I use the Mirrycle mirrors. Endlessly adjustable and foldable on friction joints. Stays where you put it...

    Help! My next project

Yesterdays ride involves climbing out of the valley I live in, going down into the next then climbing out of that before going down to the coast. The second climb I noted as 1.6 miles from bottom to flat (ish) top. Variable gradient with the first 6-800 yards being around 1:6. The climb out...

    Help! My next project

Bike has had several hours to cool down now. I've just run it up and down the village (flat road) and everything was working OK, including the speed display. I really am thinking it may be heat related. Think I may need to get more ventilation which is difficult whilst also weatherproofing it.

    Help! My next project

I have P1=128. Speed display did work but stopped mid ride. There is no speed sensor connected, never has been. So, as you say, it must be getting the speed signal from the halls. As it was working fully but is not now (and no settings have been changed) would this indicate there's something...

    Help! My next project

Very variable , but manged to keep it above 8. But these are long climbs on a warm day. First thing I did. I'm thinking that, because the speed reading suddenly stopped working, that something in the controller has gone. It sounds like it is misfiring as the motor not deepened and gave more...

    Help! My next project

Definitely got gremlins in the system ! Went to my favourite seaside cafe today, lovely Tuscan fish stew. Around a 12 mile ride to get there, lots of ups and downs. On the long descent into the village I noticed that, suddenly, there was no mph reading when not pedalling, when back brake (brake...

    Help! My next project

It's hovering around 80w, and that speed would be on a rare flat smooth road. Slightest of inclines speed go down. I'll try and get them when it's finished charging.

    Help! My next project

Having fixed a second puncture I took the bike on a longer run on Sunday. Really it wants to do a minimum of 14mph. The wattage seems to be ramping up quicker now on the throttle, does it have a learning function because I haven't changed anything?. However the pickup from going downhill...

    More Seizures

Why? Privately owned E Scooters are illegal. End off. What else is needed? The law concerning eapc's is concise though much mis-understood , mis- quoted and mis-interpreted. Perhaps we all need to carry printed copies of the actual law. Does a version with the correct terminology and...

    More Seizures

Once again the wrong information being 'clarified'. 250w is not the maximum power output. Educating coppers that it is leaves people, like me, who have a wattage display, at risk of having the bike wrongly seized. The voltage label is not the battery power, it's the voltage !

    Help! My next project

To catch up C4 was set at3 already. With the wheel size thing, somebody's going to have to help me out here 'cos I'm not great at maths. The motor would develop more torque in a 24" but would it do that if I told it it was in a 24 when actually in a 700c? Also I'm trying to keep it legal so...

    Help! My next project

Well that took some time - doesn't it always? Because I've been using MP tyres for the last 12 years, the glue in the puncture outfit I had had gone solid. Result was a 28 mile round trip to the bike shop to get patches and spare tube. Plus side is that they had some no glue self stick...

    Help! My next project

I'll check today - after I've mended my first ever marathon plus puncture ! That's what I've done and, so far, it seems to be a bit lacking in the steep hill department. Otherwise it's fine. There's a lot going on at the bottom of a V shaped valley, but going up through the pas levels is...

    Help! My next project

I've changed C14 to 3. I think it's made an improvement, hard to tell. Here's what I saw: Trundling along on 2, I came to a steep bit. Pressed the throttle. Wattage increased rapidly to 380-400 ( which is level 4) then slowly up to 680ish. So tried an experiment. From level 1 I tried the...

    Help! My next project

Good to know, I will persevere. Although I've been a utility and leisure cyclist since I first rode a bike (roundabout 5 or 6 I think), I have never been a strong cyclist. Always suffered from tired legs and would regularly get left behind when out causing mischief with my mates. So there's a...

    Help! My next project

Just found my original thread when I bought the kit. After much back and forth I ended up with a 48v 328rpm, so running it at 36v should be giving me 260 rpm. However speed is not the issue, it's hill climbing torque. I'm beggining to think that I may have stuffed myself here. If I go to...

    Help! My next project

That I can't remember, there was so much back and forth when I bought it. I originally bought it for a 26" wheeled recumbent. I do know it's 48v currently being run at 36v max 20A, Here's the number from it if it means anything: AKM23032901002 BBA4816B When changing from, say, level 2 up to...
